Orphanage Goods

14/August/1994

06:30 AM

Everyone got woken up by the caregiver. An old and cold lady, that honestly looked that she never wanted to be there. Yousra, along with the other kids at the orphanage, sat up in her bed, half asleep and tired. She looks at the caregiver as she leaves the room before groaning and getting out of bed. She gets ready and also helps some other kids get ready.

Time skip to 11 AM

Yousra was walking around the orphanage. The only sound audible being pretty much only her footsteps and the ticking of clocks. It was quieter than usual. No annoying children running around. No caregivers are making comments about her "being disrespectful.".. Everything was weirdly at peace. Almost too peaceful.

Just then, one of the caregivers walks up behind her. There goes peace... "There you are, Yousra. We have talked about walking around in the halls without permission, haven't we?" the Caregiver States before talking again, "now then. I will need you to go back to your room and stay there for the rest of the day. And when I come back to put the other children to sleep, it better be clean. From top. To. Bottom." the caregiver says, grabbing Yousra's arm and dragging her back to her room.

"W-wait! That's not fair at all! Why should I clean that big room on my own?!" Yousra says, trying to tug her arm away from the caregiver's grip. "Do not yell at me, young lady. Unless you want a bigger punishment than just cleaning." The caregiver replies, gripping Yousra's arm tighter.

They eventually got back to the room, and the caregiver shoved Yousra inside, shutting and locking the door after she did. Yousra stood in the room behind the shut locked door before groaning. She walked to her bed, sitting down. As she looked around the room, she also realized that this might be bad.. But there wasn't anything to clean.. Just some beds to make and laundry to fold. So she got to it, and was done after one hour...

Once she was done, she sat on her bed and sighed.. She was honestly starting to get hungry.. Since it had been around 5 hours since she had last eaten. How great that she was locked in the bedroom with no food. She should have eaten more at breakfast. She had had enough punishments like this to know that the caregivers didn't care to give them food during the day if they locked someone in the bedroom.

Hours passed as she sat in that room. She tried passing time by drawing.. I'm just walking around, looking for ways to leave... And mainly thinking. It wasn't long until she was just sitting on her bed, basically starving. Her stomach ached as she sat there, legs up to her chest as she hugged her knees.

She groaned once again and looked at the time. 7pm... it had been 8 hours since she was locked in that room. She would have gone to sleep just to pass time and be able to eat something the next day. The issue with that was that she was too hungry and... couldn't sleep anyway...

She just sat on top of her bed, waiting till night hits in, so the caregivers unlocked the door for other children to sleep.

Eventually... Well... She looked up at the clock on the wall.

9pm.

10 hours locked up in there, just staring at the empty floor or the empty wall. Until she heard the door unlock. CLICK! She sat up in bed and waited, then the door opened and a bunch of unhappy children walked in, one of the caregivers under the door frame, giving that old, cold, moody, frowning stare with furrowing thin eyebrows. Then, as all of the children walk inside, she speaks. Well, oh no...

"I see you 'cleaned' well enough... good..."

Then she speaks even louder, so other kids could listen to her as well.

"I better see everything and everyone in order tomorrow. Do your chores and act like the creatures you all are. And Yousra. I better see this place SHINING tomorrow."

And then, she left them all alone, and everyone went to sleep. Everyone went to sleep except Yousra.

She stayed up, staring at the empty ceiling with sleepy eyes. Then, little youngster Yousra sighed and murmured something under her breath to herself:

"...ah...the goods of the Orphanage...so cool... And ironic..."

She sighs again...

"I wish I were still home, though... would've been better, even if they hate me still..."

Soon after, she went to sleep peacefully. Or was it peaceful...?

In within the night, she had a nightmare of the future... Darkness surrounding her everywhere and she sees herself standing before her eyes, grown up, and...changed...?

THANK YOU EVERYONE SO MUCH FOR READING! This is a HUGE accomplishment for me! Finally getting some views! If you want to know, I ALWAYS wanted to publish a story about Yousra, ever since my mind created her, and it means SO much to me if people ACTUALLY read it!! I figured things out, and I'll upload once a week, maybe Sundays, and if I don't, well it's because I have some homework to do, or spend family time. See you next time!!! :D
