OUAF: Chapter 1- Hard Times

Juli was just a normal teenager born with a special kind of ability. Moon Blades. Juli always took very good care of her mother and her little brother, Kayden. Sadly, she lost her father due to a terrible accident, and she was told he got hit by a carriage while crossing the street...

She is now in the backyard, doing the chores her mother told her to. She holds out a basket full of laundry, and she takes a piece of clothing, a dress to be exact, clipping it on the thin thread when a voice rings from behind her.

"JULIIIIIII!! Want to play hide and seek with me? "

she sighs as she speaks up with a soft tone.

"Not now, Kay! Juli's got some work to do."

"But, Juli..."

Her little brother tries to protest, but she cuts him off right in time to say:

"Just not NOW, little brother! I promise you that we can play after I do my chores, okay?"

She sighs once again and continues talking.

"Now, why don't you play with the bunnies and squirrels while you wait, hm?"

Kayden nods and heads to the front yard. Juli thought she could finally get the peace she needed in this wonderful weather outside, but something, or this beautiful moment...

"Heeeeeey, Juli!"

Behold..the all mighty spoiled brat... Olivia.

"Heeeeeey, Juli! How are you doing today in these kingdom walls? Ohhhhhh right. Your dad was the one who put you guys in here, am I correct?"

Juli's anger flares as she tries to maintain her anger in one place and keeps her pace as she speaks up.

"Exactly! And don't you DARE speak about him in that stupidly dumb tone! He died in an accident! And he was the best at everything!"

"Even dying? HAH! He was so stupid. He must've crossed the street without looking both ways! Awww... How sad... and terrible!"

Olivia says in a mocking tone as she turns around to leave.

Juli just grits her teeth and clenches her fists while thinking: [How DARE she mocks the dead like that! Mocking the dead is a HUGE mean thing to do!]

Her fists relax, and her jaw relaxes as she continues being deep in thought...[wish he were here though...]

She finishes clipping the laundry on the thread, and then she turns around and begins walking inside with a slight frown plastered on her face.

Her mother sees her and speaks up in a concerned look on her face.

"What happened, dear?""

She asked, and Juli replies while heading upstairs to the storage room with a frown on her face, speaking in a sad tone...

"I'll tell you later, after I return the basket to the storage room..."

She heads upstairs and enters the storage room, opening the door in a slow motion and turning on the lantern, placing the basket under a shelf. Then she turns around, blowing off the lantern and closing the door behind her.

She then heads downstairs, and her mother looks at her and gestures at the seat next to her on the couch.

"Do you mind telling me what happened now? did that Olivia girl approach the fence again? What happened?"

Juli replies while taking a seat next to her mother on the couch and looking at the floor with a frown plastered on her pretty face...

"Yeah... She said some mean stuff about dad... again... It's just..."

she pauses, exhaling and speaking up using words.

"I would've threatened Olivia with my Moon Knife... heh..."

Her mothe just raises an eyebrow and just looks at her in disbelief.

"Kidding, kidding!"

Her mother furrows her eyebrows and speaks in a reassuring tone.

"She is just jealous of you, sugar cube!"

Juli speaks up with a strong and firm voice.

"How?! She has the perfect family, and I DON'T! She has everything she ever wanted, and you KNOW that!"

"Juli..."

Juli refuses to listen to any more words and gets up, wiping her tears and starting to walk to the staircase.

"I'm going in my room..."

She says, as she starts heading upstairs and entering her room

Her mother exhales. Then a faint sound of the front door opening is heard, and Kayden walks in and looks around the living room.

"Where's Jul? She promised to play with me."

"She just needs some time alone for herself to breathe in. Don't worry about her, she will come out eventually."

Kayden says as he furrows his eyebrows.

"Oh... Oh, okay..."

Meanwhile, Julia is in her room, on her bed, staring at a picture with their whole family, and her dad in there too. [Once it all was perfect...] She thinks... [Could that really have happened? why? what did he do to deserve this...?]
