It all started when Meera insisted that Laila should meet some “friends her own age.” Aryan, being a practical man, thought this would be a simple stroll in the local park. How wrong he was.
The moment they arrived, Laila spotted a gang of toddlers armed with rattles and sippy cups. She charged at them like a tiny warrior queen. Aryan dashed after her, narrowly dodging flying biscuits and miniature water bottles.

“I am a war hero,” he muttered through gritted teeth, brushing sand off his kurta. “A hero whose only enemy is a toddler and possibly your sense of humor.”
The chaos didn’t stop there. A stray puppy entered the park, Laila lunged toward it, Aryan slipped in a puddle, and a group of gossiping aunties from the neighborhood immediately began whispering, “Dekho dekho! Malhotra bhai and the single mom!”
Aryan froze. Malhotra bhai… and the single mom. Did they really have to watch his humiliation live?
Meera, ever the calm chaos-bringer, leaned close and whispered, “Ignore them. You’re handling her beautifully… for a mafia playboy.”
Aryan blinked at her. “Beautifully? I look like I just survived a sandstorm, a toddler rebellion, and public humiliation.”
Meera shrugged, smiling. “Exactly. Heroic.”
Finally, exhausted, Laila curled into Aryan’s arms, sand in hair, sticky hands clutching his kurta. Aryan looked down at her, then at Meera, and felt a warmth that no power, money, or mafia reputation could ever buy.
“You know,” he muttered quietly, “if surviving this counts as bonding… I think we’re doing very well.”
Meera laughed softly. “I think so too, Friend Aryan. I think so too.”
And as the sun set over Pithampur, Aryan realized the truth: chaos, sticky fingers, and public embarrassment were suddenly… irresistible.
