Chapter 1 - A night time in Wine Bar

Charlotte Pov :they called it fate. I called it a curse.

My grandfather’s voice was sharp as steel when he said it:

“Charlotte, you are to marry Gordon. It’s already decided.”

I laughed that day, thinking it was just another one of his old stories. But it wasn’t.

I already had Larry, with his bargain-shop smile and promises of forever.

But Gordon’s eyes followed me like shadows—silent, deep, and frighteningly patient.

That was the day my life stopped being mine.

Gordon’s POV:

She was always meant to be mine.

Even when she laughed with Larry, even when she looked at me as if I was only her childhood friend—

I knew.

Our grandfathers tied our names together long before she knew what love was.

And now, the engagement has been spoken aloud.

She thinks she can choose him.

But Charlotte doesn’t understand—

some choices were never hers to make.

It was a bright evening when Charllote went to the mall. She wasn’t expecting trouble—but trouble found her anyway.

One woman, known for her jealousy, started an argument. Her reason? Her boyfriend couldn’t stop talking about Charllote.

The woman sneered, “Think you’re better than everyone, huh?”

Charllote’s patience snapped. She slapped the woman hard.

“You should teach your boyfriend not to stare before blaming me,” she hissed before walking off.

Still fuming, Charllote returned home. She kicked off her heels, lay on her bed, and slowly drifted into a short nap.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

It was Larry, her lover.

“Char, come quickly! I’m at the wine bar,” he said, his voice tense but calm.

Charllote jumped up, grabbed her keys, and rushed out. But the streets were packed—traffic jammed everywhere.

As she sat there tapping her fingers impatiently, she spotted Gordon, passing by on his bike. He slowed down beside her car.

“Need a ride?” he asked with a smirk.

Charllote rolled her eyes. “Not now, Gordon, also only mind your own business ” she said, ignoring him and driving off the moment the road cleared.

Larry called," if u didn't want to come I didn't say its necessaryly, so if u didn't want to come go gome im not beg for you" he said. Charlotte hearts skip with pain.

"wait my a bit im at traffic jam babe ill be there soon" Charllote replied, cut the call.

Finally, she reached the wine bar. The dim lights glowed warmly, soft music played in the background.

She spotted Larry, sitting at the counter, a half-empty wine glass in his hand.

Before she could walk up, a girl leaned toward him, trying to flirt.

Larry didn’t respond—but he didn’t move away either. He just stared blankly at his drink.

Charllote’s heart sank a little. Something didn’t feel right.

Charlotte (furious, stepping in front of Larry):

“Don’t you dare touch him again. He’s mine.”

Girl (smirking, swirling her wine glass):

“Yours? Honey, he didn’t push me away. Maybe he doesn’t belong to anyone. Maybe he’s just waiting for someone better.”

Charlotte (voice sharp as a knife):

“Better? You mean cheaper. I can smell the desperation in your perfume. Do you throw yourself at every man with a wallet?”
