Demon’S Blood

Demon’S Blood

My Enemy?!

*Noah!! A blurry figure called out desperately, don’t you dare die on me! He rushed to my side with his voice trembling with fear; cradling me close enough to feel his warmth as his lips formed my name—soon everything went blank.*

Then—

Knock, Knock, Knock…

“Noah dear! Wake up. My friend is coming over for dinner, so look decent," my mom said in a songful tone. Her smile was sweet while her tone was playful yet sharp.

I groaned to the wake\-up call and yanked the blanket over my face. “Five more minutes… it’s too early for this.”

“Too early? It’s literally six\-thirty in the evening, little Mr. Get up. Now.”

“Where are we—” I began but she was already walking away. I sighed.

With no choice I dragged myself out of bed. Catching the sight of my reflection, it nearly made me scream. I looked like I just woke from the dead. The dark circles under my eyes looking so hallow. And my drool, dried and crusty—like a crime scene that broke out over night. Wiping it away—*fast.*

I yanked open my closet door and wore a simple white t-shirt and sweats. Wait….that dream felt too real. Dreams always feels weird right? Yeah. They’re just storing memories—or so I convinced myself.

As I descended to the first floor, a cool aroma of fresh juicy steak wafted around my nose. I could hear the table being set and the candles being lit up. Drool dared to escape my mouth the more I just think about the delicious food my mother made.

Ding Dong, Ding Dong.

I rushed down and flung the door open. My jaw DROPPED. My sworn enemy—Lucas— standing there at my door with a smug look on his face. His mom, a beautiful woman, smiled sweetly besides him. She’s related to him? There’s no way. A jerk-faced boy who can’t ever leave me alone, related to her? Unbelievable.

“Sup shorty,” Lucas said casually, amused with how easily he can trigger me.

“Don’t ‘Sup shorty’ me. Why are you here?” I snapped.

“For dinner, what else?”

“Oh, come on, you two,” Lucas’ mom interjected with a stern but playful tone. “Don’t start arguing now—just have fun.”

“But auntie—”

“No Buts. Now where’s Linda?”

“She’s over—”

“Mia, it’s so good to see you again,” my mom said cutting me off. “Is this the Lucas I’ve been hearing about?”

“Yup, that’s him—my little troublemaker.”

“Mom, can we just go eat?” I asked as I rolled my eyes with disgust, “I’m starving.”

“Aww the little mouse is hungry.” teased Lucas.

“Shut—”

“LANGUAGE NOA!”

“Sorry mom...” I mumbled embarrassed.

I could hear Lucas snickering at my embarrassment thinking he had won the favor of my mom. But his eyes seem to show something hidden in his gaze.
