Astrid was at a family restaurant waiting for her parents, and when she called them they got excited and didn’t hesitate to come to meet her.
She was nervous about their arrival, wondering how they would react upon seeing little Alain, who was sipping his chocolate milkshake.
- Mommy\, can I order pancakes? – Alain asked\, sitting next to her.
- Yes\, my love – she said\, stroking his head.
- Astrid? – She heard them call.
Astrid looked up to find her father and mother standing there in front of her; she was so moved that she got up from her seat and hugged them tightly.
- Daughter\, it’s been so long\, where have you been? – Aurora asked\, looking her up and down.
- Are you okay? Did something happen? – her father asked.
Astrid wiped her tears; her parents were still so loving and attentive.
- Mommy\, I want pancakes – Alain’s little voice caught Frank and Aurora’s attention.
- Mom\, Dad – Astrid said\, bringing Alain closer.
- Who is he? – Aurora asked.
- My son\, Alain – Astrid replied.
- You have a son? – Frank asked\, looking at the little boy and focusing on his blue eyes similar to Astrid’s.
- Yes – she answered\, cheeks flushed.
Alain looked at the two adults in shock; he smiled, his mom had called them mom and dad, so that must mean they were his grandparents.
- Are they my grandparents? – He asked in his sweet voice\, which immediately touched Frank and Aurora’s hearts.
Frank approached the chair where the little boy was sitting; those blue eyes were just like his daughter Astrid’s. He tenderly stroked his black hair, and Alain blushed.
- My name is Alain\, nice to meet you – the little boy introduced himself.
- Hello\, Alain\, I’m Frank… but call me Grandpa – he said with a choked voice.
- And I am your grandmother Aurora – the woman said without thinking\, crying with happiness knowing she had a little grandson and that he was so beautiful.
The four sat down to breakfast; Astrid told them where she had been all those years, claiming the only thing she wanted was to stay away from everyone. Alain’s arrival was unexpected, but he also became her reason to move forward.
- Where are you staying? – Frank asked.
- We spent the night at a roadside hotel – Astrid replied with a faint smile.
- Well\, no more words needed\, you’ll come home with us – Aurora said immediately.
- I can’t\, Leandro kicked me out of the pack – Astrid commented.
- Oh\, daughter\, a lot happened after you left… – Aurora said\, looking at Frank.
- Well\, the important thing is your expulsion from the pack was annulled\, so you can come back right away – Frank said.
- What do you mean annulled? Did Leandro decide that? – she asked doubtfully.
- No\, it was the King Lycan’s orders – Frank replied – After you left\, the King’s Beta came to the pack\, looking for you and with a special punishment for Leandro and his fault – he said in a low voice.
- Looking for me? For what? – she asked with curiosity in her words.
- I don’t know\, daughter\, maybe for the fault Leandro committed... Look\, let’s go home and we’ll tell you everything there – Aurora said\, looking at Alain\, who seemed attentive to the conversation.
Astrid looked at her little one and smiled tenderly, as she usually did.
- Alain\, do you want to live with your grandparents? – she asked\, since despite being a child\, she liked her little cub’s opinion.
- Yes! I want to! – he shouted excitedly.
Alain had been living alone with his mom, so the idea of living now with his grandparents was fantastic.

Kaelen walked through the palace halls; that day he had so much to do, but that was the least of his concerns. His lycanthrope was more restless than usual, wanting to take control and leave the palace, but no matter how much he asked, it did not answer him.
- Enough already\, if you want to go out\, you have to tell me where and why – Kaelen growled\, stopping halfway.
She has returned, I can feel her – growled his lycanthrope.
Kaelen was surprised to hear it; it had been many years since it last responded, and its voice seemed strange to him.

Kaelen let out a bitter sigh at his lycanthrope’s words. After so many years since that encounter, he finally discovered the truth: she was indeed his destined mate. The Moon Goddess had blessed him, and he had simply let her slip away.

Alain looked at his new home; it was a two-story house, different from the apartment where he had previously lived with his mother.
- Mommy\, are we going to live here? – the little boy asked with surprise.
Astrid nodded and picked the little one up in her arms. She looked around; the neighbors watched curiously at their arrival, which made her uncomfortable but also curious to know more about what happened when she left the pack.
Alain admired his grandparents’ house; it was big and cozy, and he would easily get used to living there.
- I like this house\, Mommy – he whispered into his mother’s ear\, or at least he tried; his voice was so loud that his grandparents heard him.
- I’m glad you like it; now it’s your home – Frank said cheerfully.
- Alain\, would you like to help Grandma prepare some snacks? – Aurora asked as she approached Astrid to take the little boy in her arms.
- Can I\, Mommy? – Of course\, Alain wanted to go with his grandmother\, but he wouldn’t move until his mother gave him permission.
- Yes\, my love\, but don’t eat too many snacks – Astrid replied.
Alain gave his mother a loud kiss on the cheek and then allowed himself to be carried away by his grandmother.
They both went to the kitchen, and that way Frank could tell Astrid more calmly what had happened.
- Come\, sit down – Frank said\, leading her to the sofa.
- What happened after I left? – Astrid asked once seated.
- As I was saying\, after you left\, the Beta of the Lycan King arrived looking for you by the King’s orders – Frank began to speak – But upon learning that you had been expelled by the future alpha\, things got stranger – he continued and paused.
- What do you mean? – Astrid asked\, her interest growing inside.
- The beta demanded your whereabouts\, so we told him where you had gone\, but the next day he was back saying you were not in the neighboring pack – he continued with his explanation – Everything was chaos; the Beta made us give all possible places you might have gone – he said.
- Why? – she asked\, confused about what the Beta wanted with her.
Frank shrugged as they simply received orders from the Beta without any explanation.
- That’s not the end of it\, daughter – he interrupted her thoughts – Before leaving\, the Beta indicated that your expulsion was revoked...
- What did Leandro say? – she asked bitterly just mentioning his name.
- He couldn’t oppose it; it was a direct order from the Lycan King... Besides\, he wasn’t alpha yet\, so he had no right to expel you from the pack – he answered.
- But now he is\, I suppose he’ll do it as soon as he finds out I’m back – she said heavy-hearted.
- No\, not unless the Lycan King authorizes it – he commented. Astrid narrowed her eyes – Leandro is Alpha\, but only by title; he can’t do or decide anything without the King’s direct authorization – he said with a satisfied smile.
- Really? Why? - Astrid asked\, trying to hide the excitement she felt hearing about it.
- It's the King's punishment for disrespecting the ceremony\, and you\, the Beta\, the King said he values the union of couples even more when you consider that many years have passed without the Moon's blessing to have our destined mates\, so he decided to let him become Alpha and Catalina the Moon\, but neither could make decisions about the pack until he authorized it - He explained with a big smile.
Astrid began to laugh at what her father was saying. Leandro and Catalina had become Alpha and Moon, but they were more than just pawns of King Lycan.
- They both deserve it\, for being unfaithful dogs - She said with amusement.
- Astrid\, is something wrong? Is that why you came back? - He asked seriously.
Astrid stopped laughing and looked at her father, hesitating to tell him what was happening with Alain, but she also knew she couldn't hide it for much longer.
Before she could say anything, they heard Aurora's scream coming from the kitchen. They ran to see what was happening.
Astrid's heart almost jumped out of her chest, thinking something had happened to her pup.
When they arrived, they looked with surprise; Aurora was in a corner trembling with fear, the snacks she had prepared were scattered on the floor, and little Alain was sitting on the floor with chocolate covering his mouth, and the most striking thing were those dog ears poking out of his hair.
- Loki liked grandma’s snacks - The little one said and then started licking his fingers\, looking at his mother with his blue eyes full of tenderness and regret.
Astrid looked at her father and smiled nervously; there was no way to hide the origin of Alain from them, although even she didn’t know anything concrete yet, only that her little one belonged to a very powerful lineage.
