Scene I: Calais in Flames
Animus sync resumes. Julien Moniveir opens his eye still in the tattered French uniform, riding in the back of a farmer’s truck filled with wounded soldiers. Smoke rises across the horizon. Calais burns.
FRENCH DRIVER:
“German armor crossed the Somme. They’ll be here by dawn.”
JULIEN:
“Then we reach the port before that.”
HENRI (beside him):
“Not the port. We have someone to meet first.”
JULIEN (frowning):
“A contact?”
HENRI:
“An ally. Juliette Dubois Resistance cell leader. She’s the kind who’d burn Paris herself if it meant freedom.”
The truck halts near a ruined factory on the edge of town. Air raid sirens blare faintly in the distance. Henri gestures to Julien to follow.
HENRI:
“Stay close. The Gestapo have eyes everywhere.”
They move through alleyways, passing walls plastered with Nazi propaganda: “Ein Reich, Ein Volk, Ein Führer.” Julien stares at the poster a promise of order masking tyranny.
JULIEN (quietly):
“Order built on fear… They call this civilization?”
HENRI:
“Templars always do.”
They stop at a small café with boarded windows. Henri knocks in rhythm three times short, two times long. The door opens slightly a pair of sharp green eyes peers out.
Scene II: The Resistance Hideout
Inside the café basement, flickering lanterns reveal maps, radios, and scattered rifles. The smell of oil and ink fills the air. A woman in her late twenties steps forward confident, composed, wearing a Resistance armband and a hidden pendant shaped like an Assassin insignia.
JULIETTE DUBOIS:
“Henri Roux. I thought the Germans had you.”
HENRI (grinning):
“Not yet. You know I’m too stubborn to die.”
JULIETTE (turns to Julien):
“And this one?”
HENRI:
“Julien Moniveir. Son of Dion. A new recruit… whether he admits it or not.”
JULIETTE (raising an eyebrow):
“A Moniveir? You’ve got his eyes.”
JULIEN (guarded):
“You knew my father?”
JULIETTE:
“Not personally. But every Assassin in France knows the story, Dion Moniveir died trying to stop a Templar operation in Berlin, 1918. The same group resurfaced under a new name: Ordo Novi Templi. And now they serve Hitler’s dream.”
She gestures to a map of Europe pinned on the wall, red lines crisscrossing France, Germany, and Poland.
JULIETTE:
“They’re not just soldiers. They’re scientists, ministers, occultists, all searching for something buried beneath the old world. They call it The Wotan Fragment.”
JULIEN:
“Another Piece of Eden?”
HENRI:
“Possibly. And the man leading the search is Franz Adler, Himmler’s personal scientist and a devout Templar.”
Scene III: The Mission Brief
The group gathers around a table covered with photographs and intelligence files.
HENRI:
“Adler operates out of an abandoned monastery near Arras. He’s experimenting on artifacts recovered from Norway, symbols tied to the Isu language. We believe he’s close to activating one.”
JULIETTE:
“If he succeeds, the Templars will control minds on a scale never seen. They’ll use fear as faith, and faith as obedience.”
JULIEN:
“And what do you want me to do?”
HENRI:
“Simple. Infiltrate, retrieve, eliminate. You know, the Assassin way.”
JULIEN (hesitating):
“I’m not one of you. I’m just a soldier who lost his country.”
HENRI (firm):
“You’re more than that, Julien. Soldiers fight for orders. Assassins fight for truth.”
JULIETTE:
“And freedom.”
Julien looks at the hidden blade Henri lays on the table, old but pristine, engraved with the Assassin insignia.
HENRI:
“Your father carried this once. Now it’s yours.”
Julien hesitates, then slides it onto his wrist. The blade locks with a faint metallic click. He flexes his hand, and it feels… right.
Scene IV: The Lesson
Later that night. The two men stand on the rooftop above Calais. The moonlight cuts through the smoke. Julien practices the motions of the hidden blade while Henri watches silently.
HENRI:
“You feel the weight?”
JULIEN:
“Feels natural. Like it belongs there.”
HENRI:
“It does. The blade is not a weapon: it’s a choice. When you draw it, you decide that the truth is worth more than your life.”
JULIEN:
“My father made that choice.”
HENRI (nodding):
“And now you will too.”
They stand in silence as a column of German trucks rumbles through the streets below. The red banners wave like blood in the wind.
JULIEN:
“If these Nazis are the Templars’ pawns… then what’s their true goal?”
HENRI:
“Power through order. To strip away chaos, emotion, and will: until man becomes a perfect, obedient machine.”
JULIEN:
“Then we’ll break the machine.”
HENRI (smiling faintly):
“Spoken like an Assassin.”
Scene V: The Infiltration Begins
The next day. A small Resistance convoy departs Calais, disguised as a medical transport. Inside the truck, Julien checks his blade and rifle. Henri briefs the team one last time.
HENRI:
“Adler’s convoy leaves Arras tomorrow. We intercept it tonight. Juliette, you take the ridge. Julien, you move in close.”
JULIETTE:
“And if we fail?”
HENRI (grimly):
“Then Paris burns next.”
They drive into the dusk the sound of artillery in the distance. Julien looks out the window at the passing countryside, torn apart by war.
JULIEN (thinking):
“I was a soldier once. Now I fight shadows in the name of a creed older than nations. Maybe this is who I was meant to be.”
The scene slows. He presses his hand against the hidden blade. The Animus glitches faintly Damien’s voice overlaps Julien’s for a split second:
DAMIEN (echoing):
“I remember this… all of it.”
White static fills the screen. Sarah’s voice cuts through:
SARAH (through intercom):
“Damien? You’re syncing deeper than I expected. The memory bleed it’s growing.”
DAMIEN (in the Animus):
“I can handle it. I need to see where this leads.”
