Happiness Doesn’T Last Forever
Scene 1 — School Rooftop, Sunset
The golden light of the sunset covered the rooftop in warm colors.
Three high school boys sat together — Haru, Riku, and Yuto.
Their laughter blended with the evening breeze.
Yuto: “Man, these exams are torture!”
Riku (grinning): “Once we’re done, we’ll come back here and celebrate like always!”
Haru (smiling softly): “Yeah… we’ll never leave this place, right?”
A small silence followed.
Riku looked at Haru — his smile was gentle, but his eyes looked tired.
Before he could ask, Haru laughed again and looked at the sky.
The wind brushed through their hair, carrying their laughter away —
a warm promise floating in the air… one that would soon be broken. 🌅
Scene 2 — School Rooftop, Late Afternoon
The sky had turned a deeper shade of orange as the sun began to sink.
Haru leaned against the railing, looking out over the city, his body weaker than usual.
Riku noticed it immediately.
Riku: “Haru… are you okay? You look… tired.”
Haru (forcing a smile): “I’m fine. Really, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
Yuto: “Hey, we always promised — no secrets between us!”
Riku’s heart ached. He remembered all the times they laughed here, on this very rooftop, sharing everything.
Now, Haru’s usual brightness seemed to flicker, hiding something heavy behind that soft smile.
The wind blew softly, carrying a chill.
Riku wanted to say more, but words failed him.
All he could do was watch, silently wishing things could stay the same… 🌆
Scene 3 — School Rooftop, Evening
The sun had disappeared behind the horizon, leaving the sky painted in shades of purple and deep blue.
Haru struggled to sit up straight, his face pale and weak.
Riku (panicking slightly): “Haru! You… you don’t look okay!”
Yuto (grabbing Haru’s shoulder): “Why didn’t you tell us? We could’ve helped!”
Haru smiled faintly, his voice barely above a whisper.
Haru: “I didn’t want to ruin our moments… I wanted to be with you like always, just for a little longer.”
Riku’s eyes filled with tears.
He wished he could turn back time, hug Haru, and never let go.
The rooftop, once a place of laughter and warmth, felt emptier now.
The wind seemed colder, carrying a quiet sorrow.
Even Yuto, who always smiled, felt the heaviness of the moment.
The three friends sat in silence, the city lights flickering below,
realizing that some promises… can’t withstand fate. 🌌
Scene 4 — Rooftop, The Next Day
The rooftop was quiet. The place where they had laughed and shared so many moments felt empty.
The air carried only memories, and the warmth of yesterday was gone.
Riku stood in the middle, holding the friendship ring tightly in his hand.
Riku (whispering): “If only I could go back… I would’ve hugged you instead of arguing.”
Yuto looked around, his chest heavy, unable to speak.
The rooftop, the bench, the small potted plants — everything that had belonged to Haru seemed to vanish along with him.
Riku and Yuto sat in silence, feeling the emptiness and loss of their dearest friend.
Even though they had promised never to leave this place, even though they wore the rings as a symbol of their bond,
Haru was gone.
The sun set slowly, painting the sky with the same warm colors as before,
but the laughter, the warmth… the life of the rooftop… had disappeared forever. 🌆
