A New Life

A New Life

Fack smill

The morning sun slipped through the curtains, painting a soft golden line across Ashley's small bedroom She sat by the window holding an old photograph-her father's warm smile froze in time. Every morning, she looked at it before starting her day, as if it gave her silent strength.

Her mother had already left for work, and the house felt empty-too quiet. Ashley had grown used to the silence, but sometimes it felt heavy, like the world was holding its breath around her. She brushed away either quickly before it could fall." I'm fine", she whispered to herself, though her voice trembled.

That day at college, something happened. A new student joined her class-cheerful, talkative and oddly familiar in the way he smelled His name was Kevin. He greeted everyone warmly. And when he sat beside Ashley, she barely looked up. But Kevin noticed her quietness-the way her eyes looked strong yet lovely.

Days turned into weeks.kevine didn't try to force his friendship,he simply stayed kind-sharing notes, cracking small jokes, helping others.slowly,Ashley began to smile again, first out of politeness then genuinely.for the first time in years, she laughed -softly, unexpectedly.

One rainy afternoon, when the class ended early, they both waited under the college porch. Kevin offered his umbrella and said," you know, sometimes the rain isn't here to make us sad. It's here to remind us that even the clouds can cry and still let the sun shine later".

Ashley looked at him, surprised by the warmth in his words. Something inside her heart melted -the walls she had built for years began to crack. She didn't say much that day, but when she went home, she realized she felt lighter, freer.

Months passed, and Ashley slowly allowed herself to trust again-not just Kevin, but life itself. She began painting again, something she had stopped doing after her father's death. Her colors returned -to her art, her world, and her smile.

Years later, standing by the same window where her story began, Ashley watched the sunrise with Kevin by her side. Life was still imperfect -but her heart had healed .she had learned that losing someone doesn't mean losing yourself.

And as the sunlight touched her face, she whispered softly,"I'm happy, papa. I finally am."
