Heaven Devouring Monarch

Heaven Devouring Monarch

The Night Heaven Bled

The sky was crying.

Not with rain, but with fire.

Crimson meteors tore through the heavens, each leaving trails of burning light that turned night into day. The villagers called it an omen — the wrath of gods. But to Li Tianlan, it was just another reminder that even the heavens loved to watch mortals burn.

He sat alone on the cold mountain cliff, his hands trembling as he held the cracked jade pendant his mother had left him.

No spiritual energy flowed through his body. No meridians answered his call.

For eighteen years, he had tried — and failed — to cultivate.

“Even the heavens mock me,” he whispered. His voice was hoarse, carried away by the howling wind. “Born useless. Die forgotten.”

Then it happened.

A thunderous roar split the clouds, and a meteor as red as blood streaked across the sky — falling, falling, straight toward the valley below. The earth shook. The mountain screamed. The world went silent.

Something inside Tianlan moved.

Not in his flesh — in his soul.

Drawn by a force he couldn’t name, he stumbled down the path, his bare feet bleeding against the stones. The valley was scorched black, smoke curling around a crater that pulsed with eerie red light.

At the center… lay a heart.

Not human. Not divine.

It was the Heart of a Fallen Star, beating faintly, drenched in firelight.

As Tianlan reached out, a voice echoed inside his mind — deep, ancient, and filled with hunger.

“Why do you beg for mercy, mortal?”

He froze. His lips parted, but no words came.

"You curse Heaven,” the voice continued, “yet you still kneel before it. Stand… or be forgotten.”

Tianlan’s trembling hand closed around the burning heart. Pain exploded through his veins — white-hot, tearing, endless. His vision went red. His body convulsed as blood vaporized into mist.

Then the world fell away.

He stood in a boundless void filled with collapsing stars.

Before him towered a colossal shadow — humanoid in form, but endless in presence. Its eyes were galaxies. Its breath devoured suns.

“Who… are you?” Tianlan gasped.

The being’s voice rumbled like thunder.

> “I am what Heaven fears — the Devourer. The end of all Laws. The hunger that swallows creation.”

“Why me?”

“Because you cursed Heaven… and Heaven heard you.”

The shadow extended a hand of darkness. “Take my heart, mortal. Walk my path.

But remember — once you devour the heavens, there is no return.”

Tianlan looked down at his trembling hands — cracked, bleeding, trembling — and then up at the endless sky. For the first time, he smiled.

“If Heaven forbids me…”

His voice was quiet, but steady.

“…then I will devour Heaven.”

The shadow roared. The void shattered.

When Tianlan opened his eyes, he was kneeling in the crater. The red heart had vanished — but his own chest burned with a pulse not his own. The air trembled around him. Trees withered. Rocks dissolved into ash.

The heavens above were no longer calm — they were afraid.

And beneath that bleeding sky, Li Tianlan rose to his feet — reborn as something the world was never meant to see.

"The Heaven Devouring Monarch had taken his first breath".
