Chapter 2: Awakening

Jayden had finally turned sixteen. On an ordinary day, that should have been cause for celebration — laughter, cake, and the warmth of family. But today, none of that mattered. His thoughts were fixed on a single thing.

“Today my powers will be activated,” he told himself, staring out the window. “I just hope I get something good.”

Outside, the golden spires of Avarice shimmered beneath the morning sun. Bells chimed across the city as crowds of young initiates and their families made their way toward the grand Activation Center — a towering dome carved from crystal and marble, where the magic of new generations was revealed.

“Jayden!” his mother called from downstairs. “Hurry up, we’ll be late!”

He adjusted his tunic, took one last deep breath, and joined his parents outside. His closest friend, Nadia Samer, was already waiting beside the family’s sleek, rune-carved carriage. Her green eyes sparkled with excitement.

As they rode through the bustling streets, Jayden felt a knot tighten in his chest. He glanced at Nadia, who was smiling far too easily for his liking.

“Why are you getting nervous, huh?” she teased, nudging his arm. “It’s just activation. What’s the worst thing that could happen—”

“Don’t say that!” Jayden interrupted quickly. “You know it brings bad luck. Oh Lord, let me get something good.”

Nadia laughed. “Fine, fine. No bad luck then.”

“Okay, kids, we’re here,” Luke said, his deep voice calm but proud. The carriage stopped before the glowing archway of the Activation Hall, its gates humming with power.

Inside, the vast chamber was filled with radiant light. Hundreds of spectators watched as candidates stepped up one by one to touch the sacred orb of resonance. When Jayden’s turn came, the air seemed to grow still.

His parents, both renowned for their magical research, had paid for the most advanced Magic Revealer — a rare device that not only detected magic type but also measured its potential, from Low to God Level. Whispers rippled through the audience as Jayden approached.

He sat before the orb, its surface swirling with mist. Sarah and Luke stood behind him, each resting a reassuring hand on his shoulders.

The moment his palm touched the orb, lightning cracked through the air. Blue arcs of energy danced across the marble floor. The crowd gasped as the orb glowed brighter — too bright. Sparks erupted. Jayden’s body trembled before everything went white.

Then — shatter!

The orb exploded into glittering fragments, scattering light across the room.

The monitor beside it blinked rapidly before displaying in glowing letters:

Magic Type: Logic Disruption

Power Level: God Level (First Recorded)

For a moment, silence reigned. Then the potential meter kept rising, beeping faster, the readings surpassing every known limit — until the screen went blank.

And then… nothing.

A breathless stillness filled the hall.

Moments later, the crowd erupted into stunned applause. Maria, the ceremony’s overseer, adjusted her glasses, murmuring, “Logic Disruption... I’ve never heard of such magic. I must research this.”

As the applause faded, Sarah’s hands trembled. “What’s happening?” she whispered, watching Luke carry their unconscious son from the stage. Nadia followed close behind, eyes wide with worry.

And so the story of something greater and more powerful than that could ever imagine had begun.
