Iron Swing

Iron Swing

The broken arm

[Opening Scene – Flashback]

Dark stadium under floodlights. Crowd chanting.

Announcer (echoing):

“And once again, the unstoppable ace… Shindou Riku!”

Cut to Riku, 16, fire in his eyes, striking out batter after batter. His fastball thunders. The crowd roars. Then—an opposing batter mocks him from the plate. Heated words. Next pitch: the batter bunts, humiliating him. The rival pitcher, Kyouya Hoshino, sneers from the dugout.

Riku’s temper boils—he charges, fists fly. Chaos. The screen freezes on Riku’s furious face before the scene shatters like glass.

Narrator:

“The Iron Arm of Japan… broke before it could shine.”

Smash cut to title card: “Iron Swing!”

---

[Scene 1 – Transfer Student]

Rural high school, countryside. A train pulls in. Riku, now 17, steps off—duffel bag slung over his shoulder, cap pulled low.

Student A (whispering):

“Hey… isn’t that Shindou Riku? The violent pitcher?”

Student B:

“No way… what’s he doing in a dump like this?”

Riku ignores them, walking with a cold expression.

---

[Scene 2 – The Dead Baseball Club]

Riku opens the door to the “baseball club.” Dust, broken bats, no members. A single girl with a clipboard looks up.

Aya (cheerful):

“Ah! You’re the transfer student! You’re joining, right?”

Riku (flatly):

“…This place doesn’t even have a team.”

Aya (grinning):

“Not yet. But with you here, we can build one!”She introduces herself as Aya Morisaki, the new manager. She gushes about loving baseball but admits they have zero players.

---

[Scene 3 – Recruiting the Misfits]

A comedic montage of Aya dragging potential players into the dusty clubroom:

Takumi is found napping on the school roof with a snack in his mouth.

Aya: “You’re joining!”

Takumi (half-asleep): “…Baseball’s boring.”

Shouhei is in the library reading.Aya: “You look smart! Catcher?”

Shouhei (stammering): “M-me? I’m… not good with people…”

Daichi (ex-basketball hothead) refuses until Aya bribes him with free energy drinks.

Riku watches silently, clearly unimpressed.

---

[Scene 4 – First Practice Disaster]

The ragtag group gathers at the rundown field. Aya beams as manager.Aya:

“Let’s play baseball!”

Chaos ensues: Takumi doesn’t swing, Daichi keeps dunking the ball basketball-style, Shouhei flinches from every pitch. Riku finally snaps.

Riku (yelling):

“You call this baseball?! You’re wasting my time!”

The others freeze. Aya steps in, angry for the first time.

Aya:

“Then teach them! If you’re so good, show us what real baseball looks like!”

Beat. Riku glares, then wordlessly picks up the ball. He takes the mound. The air grows heavy.

[Climax – Riku’s Pitch]

Riku winds up. His motion is powerful, graceful—then BOOM! The ball smashes into the catcher’s mitt, sending Shouhei flying backward. Everyone stares, stunned.

Takumi (sitting up, wide-eyed):

“…That’s insane.”

Aya (softly, almost in awe):

“That’s… the Iron Arm.”

Riku exhales, his arm trembling slightly—foreshadowing his injury. He mutters:

Riku:

“…If you want to play baseball with me… don’t waste my time.”

The others look at each other—something just sparked inside them.

[Ending Scene]

That evening, Aya writes in her notebook under the setting sun:

Aya (narrating):

“Shindou Riku… he might be broken. But if we can become a team… maybe, just maybe, he can shine again.”

Cut to Riku staring at the sunset alone, gripping his shoulder.

Riku (to himself):

“Kyouya… next time, I’ll crush you.”
