Salene is staring at him through the glass fish tank he has her trapped in. He's basically treating her like a fish, the audacity. She's a mermaid, she wasn't ment to live like this but he has her trapped two weeks now in this awful container. She had to find a way to get out.

Zade walks past just then, ignoring her like if she wasn't there, busying himself with something on a table. You wouldn't believe he had a huge 8 foot fish tank in his living room with her in it.

She calls out to him pounding on the glass but he continued to ignore her. He'd been doing that a few days now. He discovered she could talk on the second day when he stood at the fish tank talking to her absentmindly thinking she couldn't understand. When she responded back he had jumped and stared at her as if she was a fish caught in a net.

she pounds on the glass again, desperate to get his attention "Zade I know you can hear me. How long are you going to keep me here? You know it's not right. I don't deserve to be held like this!" she says through clenched teeth, tears springing into her tears. "Would you want to be trapped like this? Away from your people and the life you knew?"

Zade stopped what he was doing and turned around to face Salene. He saw the desperation in her eyes and it tugged at his heartstrings. He felt guilty for keeping her like that, but at the same time he was fascinated by her and wanted to learn more about her kind. "You're right, I don't want to keep you here. But I also can't just let you go. Remember I told you you're the first mermaid I've seen. I need to know more about your kind."

"Are you a doctor or something? Are you going to experiment on me?" She pressed her hands against the thick glass her eyes filled with fear. Salene had heard stories about some humans being cruel to some of her kind. Was Zade like them. She didn't think so. In the time she'd been there, he hadn't hurt her.

"I'm a marine biologist and I've always been fascinated by the creatures of the ocean that haven't been discovered yet." Zade moved towards the fish tank and pressed his hands on the glass over where her hands were. "I'd like to study you, but not experiment on you Salene like what you're thinking. Just talk to you, document a few things about your life and people. I'd like to learn about your culture and way of life."

"Would you let me go after?" She asked. Her voice breaking as she spoke.

"Yes of course I will. I can't keep you forever trapped against your will. I must release you sometime for it may have detrimental effects on you. I don't want that to happen. Regrettably, you'd have to return to your normal environment where you can express your natural behaviour."
