TARUM: The Black Dragon.
Episode 0 – The Origin of the Law
> Among dragons, it was forbidden to raise claw or spell against the sire of one’s blood —
a law meant to end fratricide, twisted into a weapon of cruelty.
Long before Tarum’s birth, when the world was still half-light and half-shadow, the gods watched from the void above. Among them were two sisters — the Goddess of Death, who kept the records of all endings, and the Goddess of Wealth, who blessed creation with abundance and continuation. Their harmony sustained the world: one took, the other gave, and together they formed balance.
But then came a dragon who broke the cycle.
He was golden, bright as dawn, and beloved by the Goddess of Wealth. Through her blessings, he learned how to cheat death — slipping through her sister’s grasp again and again. He grew proud, and his power began to disrupt the balance of all life.
The Goddess of Death went to her sister and said,
> “Your follower cheats my hand. His immortality will poison the order of time.”
The Goddess of Wealth hesitated, guilt flickering behind her golden eyes.
> “He is mine. I cannot destroy him.”
Death smiled faintly, her voice calm and chilling.
> “Then I will destroy what he loves most. I will make him meet death through love itself.”
From her own shadow she molded a new being — a dragon unlike any before.
She was the first black dragon, a daughter of death and deception, beautiful and terrible to behold.
Her mission was to tempt the golden dragon, to bind him with false affection, and in the end, to bring his demise.
But when the black dragon looked into his eyes, she hesitated.
He was proud, foolish — yet strangely pure. Against her purpose, she fell in love. Still, duty weighed heavier than heart. When the time came, she fulfilled her purpose and killed him, crying as his golden blood stained her claws.
As he died, the golden dragon spoke his curse:
> “You, who loved falsely, will suffer truth’s pain for eternity.”
His dying words became law.
The curse twisted through the veins of dragonkind, reshaping their nature. From then on, dragons could no longer raise their claws or cast spells against the sire of their offspring. The Law of Blood was born — meant to end betrayal, yet ensuring endless suffering.
Generations passed.
Golden dragons called themselves the chosen heirs of the Goddess of Wealth, ruling with radiance and pride.
Black dragons became the children of Death, their power feared, their love distrusted.
In time, the law lost its purpose and became a tool of power. Fathers used it to enslave mothers. Kings used it to break queens. Those who tried to defy it vanished from history, swallowed by divine silence.
And so the two bloodlines — gold and black — stood at eternal odds, bound by gods, torn by their ancestors’ sins.
But among them would be born a dragon who refused to bow to that curse.
A black dragon named Tarum, whose story would begin where even gods turned away.
