Yet, whispers of heresy regarding the dragon circulated in Valencia and its neighboring realms.
Thus, for the intrepid adventurers, pursuing a dragon was akin to a lottery for earning experience points. Moreover, only a select few ever attained the prestigious class and title of dragon slayers.
Nevertheless, one shouldn't forget how rare it is to encounter a true dragon. Wyverns were common in the continent. Even, Il-Seong's party couldn't find a single dragon.

There lived a dragon in the forbidden northern regions. The dragon was hiding there in peace, unnoticed by the challengers.
The mighty dragon's name was Esyr. Once upon a time, it was referred to as The Evil dragon Elyriss who almost brought an end to the world. The dragon wasn't fond of noise and humans. It never admitted to cowardice but it would never come out sensing the presence of humans.
World destruction was his a part-time job, definitely not worth getting killed for. The dragon was bored.
One day, the mighty dragon playfully leaped out of the cave through the snowy terrains. By the afternoon, it brought a human cadaver in its lair out of curiosity.
The dragon gazed intently at the almost lifeless form for what felt like an eternity. Torn, delicate garments clung to a frail physique, too diminutive to endure, ghostly and nearly insubstantial. It was a being not quite alive. The sole certainty it could ascertain was... the gender.
"Hoh? A female. Who has abandoned her so cruelly in the mountains?"
"Where are her parents?"
It nudged her by the arm.
" Wake up, human."
"Hey. Listen up."

Without a whisper of the girl stirring, it settled next to her. It played with her, occasionally flipping her over with its sinuous tail as it contemplated its next move. Despite its deep-seated disdain for humans, they were undeniably absent from its list of potential meals.

Ultimately, overwhelmed by unacknowledged guilt, the dragon tended to her while maintaining a composed exterior after verifying her vital signs. Its tail vigilantly protected her frigid form.
Demonstrating consideration, it collected hays and straws from the mutant rodent's crater beforehand and then emitted a stream of fire from its belly into the ancient torch holder to intentionally warm the frigid cave.
The question remained. Why was the dragon helping a human? No less a child? Was it generosity? Wrong. The languid dragon had found a toy to play with after so long.
