Episode 5 THE THING WITH TEETH”

Kira slammed into the creature.

Ren didn’t see its full shape — everything was a blur of claws, black fabric, and Kira’s hair snapping like a whip in the wind.

Hiro clung to Ren’s hoodie. “WHY IS SHE FIGHTING WITH HER BARE HANDS—”

“I DON’T KNOW—STOP ASKING ME—”

The creature screeched and scraped its claws across the rooftop floor again. Sparks flew.

Kira slid backward, boots grinding against concrete, but she didn’t fall.

She wiped her lip. A drop of blood.

“Knew you’d show up eventually,” she muttered.

Ren blinked. “Kira. WHO. ARE. YOU.”

Before she could answer, the creature lunged again — faster than before.

Kira dodged by a hair.

Ren screamed. Hiro screamed. The wind screamed. Everybody screamed.

The creature slammed into the ground where Kira had been standing. The concrete cracked.

Ren stumbled backward. “WHY IS IT STRONGER NOW?!”

Hiro whispered. “Maybe it leveled up.”

“THIS ISN’T A GAME!”

Another screech. The creature snapped its head toward Ren and Hiro.

They froze.

Its eyes glowed — a deep, needle-thin crimson.

Ren whispered shakily, “I—I think it wants us.”

Kira’s voice cut through the rooftop:

“It wants you, Ren.”

Ren turned so fast his neck almost cracked.

“ME?! WHY ME?! I’M USELESS—HUNTERS SHOULD HUNT FOOD, NOT ME—”

Kira didn’t look away from the creature.

“It doesn’t want your body, Ren.”

Hiro gulped.

“Oh thank God—”

“It wants your energy.”

Hiro choked. “TAKE HIM.”

“Hiro WHAT—”

Kira moved again, striking the creature’s arm, twisting it, forcing it back.

“You two. Get away from the symbol.”

Ren looked down.

They were standing inside the circle carved into the floor.

Cold ran through his entire body.

He grabbed Hiro’s collar and dragged him out of the symbol.

The moment they stepped out, the scratches pulsed faintly — almost like something under the concrete exhaled.

Hiro slapped Ren. “REN WHY IS THE FLOOR BREATHING—”

“I DON’T KNOW—ASK THE FLOOR—”

Kira ducked under another slash.

She grabbed the creature’s head and slammed it into the rooftop wall so hard the metal railing rattled.

Ren’s jaw dropped.

“…She’s not human.”

The creature staggered, shaking off the hit.

Kira’s chest rose and fell fast.

“You shouldn’t be here.”

The creature hissed in a distorted voice:

“HE… BELONGS… TO US.”

Ren pointed at himself.

“NO HE DOESN’T—TAKE HIRO—”

“WHAT THE HELL REN—”

Kira stepped forward.

“You won’t touch him.”

The creature screeched again and bolted toward Ren.

Kira didn’t have time to intercept.

Ren froze.

Then — in a split-second — the creature stopped. Mid-air.

Its body twisted unnaturally, suspended like invisible claws held it.

Kira’s eyes widened.

Ren blinked. “…Kira? Did you do that?”

Kira shook her head slowly.

The creature’s limbs snapped backward.

Ren and Hiro screamed.

Then—

With a sickening CRUNCH, the creature was thrown across the rooftop, hitting the far wall so hard the concrete cracked.

It slid to the ground, motionless.

Silence.

Wind.

Ren finally breathed again.

“Okay… what… was THAT.”

Kira didn’t answer. She wasn’t looking at the creature.

She was staring behind Ren.

Ren turned.

A girl stood there.

A girl they had never seen before.

Black uniform.

White hair.

Bare feet.

Eyes glowing faint blue.

She spoke softly:

“You aren’t supposed to be here yet.”

Ren whispered, “Yet…? What does that mean?”

She lifted her hand.

Ren felt a force pull at his chest—like gravity gripping his lungs.

Hiro screamed, “THIS IS IT—WE’RE DEAD—”

Kira stepped in front of Ren instantly.

“Stay away from him.”

The white-haired girl tilted her head.

“I’m not here for him,” she murmured.

She pointed behind them.

“I’m here… for you.”

Kira’s blood froze.
