Chapter 2 The Voluntary Deliverer

Footsteps echoed across the arid land like a desert It was a place of nothing but broken rocks and naturally deceased tropical flora

A man in a dark cloak walked through this land filled with despair and devoid of greenery Countless non-human skulls were scattered everywhere as if a curse had been cast upon the territory In the distance A vast lake and river appeared but they were merely a mirage created by the subconscious of someone nearing despair

"It's time to sleep..."

"I'll tell you the rest tomorrow night dear."

In the embrace of an elderly woman who smiled gently and lovingly was a small boy with thick lustrous black hair and eyes as red as blood Yet his face was full of an innocent smile "Grandma... I want to be like Lord Khelios..."

The little boy spoke in a sweet innocent voice while resting in his grandmother's warm embrace Her eyes widened slightly in surprise but she did not show it to her young grandson Her wrinkled hand gently stroked the boy's head

"Sweet dreams little one... Sleep now Lord Khelios loves good children."

In an old house in a remote rural area next to a vast desert was a mere spot of the great land of Lanta on the Rectes Continent

In a small town bustling with people a town filled with countless machinery as if numerous engineers and inventors had gathered Electrical wires tangled chaotically composed of complex and delicate circuits but they understood it all Machine scraps oil stains scattered across the walkways as if it were normal The one who loved to invent but did not know how to keep it within boundaries

....Konji a youth covered in machine oil stains His face was smeared with mud and his ragged old clothes reflected the hardship of his life He was struggling to carry a large bag His legs trembled and his face was flushed from the heat

A man in a grey coat dressed like a traveler because of the many bags and luggage tied to his back He had blonde hair that made people around them look up in curiosity

"Hey... let me help you young man."

He easily lifted the large bag and placed it on his head He smiled kindly Konji offered a faint smile

"Thank you sir..." As time passed...

"Oh... really?... Thank you young man."

The man spoke with a joyful smile His posture was strong and steady This burly young man talked a lot with Konji as a traveler who had just met a local

"I really like your coat... It..."

"...It looks great... Where are you from sir?!"

Konji held the man's coat with an admiring expression looking all over his body

"...I'm from the Northern Lands..."

"After traveling through Northern Lanta..."

"That's where I came from."

The young man spread out an old torn map Konji stared intently without looking away but his eyes were filled with overwhelming emotions too deep to describe deep inside his heart as they walked

The man glanced at Konji's changing expression as if he had a premonition about Konji This traveler who had journeyed everywhere

Had a premonition about this young man but shortly after the man continued walking with a kind and warm demeanor

"Are you alone...?"

Konji flinched and stopped walking His eyes flashed with coldness The man gently gripped Konji's shoulder

"It's normal for a boy like you to struggle like this."

A faint voice "In this town..."

Everything was still Both of them stopped walking The young boy looked straight ahead not meeting his eyes The man stood still waiting for the boy's answer

"Yes sir... I'm alone..." Konji turned back to him His eyes were as red as blood sharp His feeling told him this man was certainly no ordinary person The man's eyes widened

Slightly in surprise He crouched down His left hand rested on the young man's shoulder He playfully patted Konji's shoulder lightly

But then he leaned in to whisper something in his ear His voice completely changed into a chilling coldness

"It's alright... Just seeing it is enough..."

Konji was shocked standing still like a statue His hair fluttered in the dusty wind His eyes flickered with pressure The man placed a piece of paper in Konji's coat pocket He did not resist He simply stood there in shock Then the man placed Konji's belongings on the ground

"Edward Lusbrek... just say this name there."

"And tell the crazy guy with the glasses at the institute..."

"Then your life will get better..."

The young man turned his back and walked away without saying goodbye leaving the boy in a state of utter shock unable to even move his feet

He walked away and disappeared into the crowd leaving behind only a piece of paper that seemed to be a variable for the life of the young man named Konji

...The young man stood calmly on the balcony A gentle breeze passed through him but his face remained cold Konji's dark hair swayed in the wind Below two young men sat calmly under a tree

Resway a young man as cold as ice His eyes filled with various emotions He sat on a garden bench his fists resting on his sturdy cheek and his elbows on his knees

"...What should we do next...?"

Asman a young man famous among the girls across the campus as a charming guy but his body was full of muscles His physique suggested he loved bodybuilding He stood leaning against the tree his arms crossed indifferently

"...Let's go indulge in some bakery..."

Resway covered both ears with his hands and sighed softly He looked at Asman with a disappointed expression

"...I wasn't talking about eating... I meant the group."

Several girls walked past When they saw Asman they greeted him with affection and admiration

He replied with a gentle and warm smile Resway sighed slightly upon seeing that sight He waved back at the group of girls too "What did you do..."

"Why are they so interested in you why are they so interested in you?"

"I was only in the band for one day..."

"I just played the guitar that's all..."

Asman looked at Resway with a sly and confident smile

Nineteen-year-old Konji watched them from above His eyes never left them His signature short black coat was both charming and deeply imposing He stood still only his eyes revealed his inner thoughts as if this man had a story he could not tell anyone

...Just seeing it is enough...

The man's words were filled with much mystery but they brought the young man who Once lived in a developed but socially deteriorating city to exist on the other side of that place It was like the edge of the horizon
