Dead Or An Illusion

The sun entered inside the cave. Its rays blooming the flowers.

A little bird sat on a rock beside us.

The morning felt joyful, like the silence after the end of a huge storm.

I smiled looking at the butterflies.

"You are here after a long time. Finally, you remembered your way back", I said to the surrounding butterflies.

"Aine, look at the yellow butterfly", Kaira smiled as one of the butterflies sat on her hand.

I felt happy, seeing everything, the peace and their smiles.

More of our group of people arrived. I felt something unusual yet peaceful.

"Aine", Selena held my hand,"Can we go out for a while? It's been a long time, I haven't seen the light out."

Kaira followed her lead.

"Okay, but not too far", as I said, they smiled joyfully.

They held my fingers, and we went to the garden outside the cave.

"Everything feels so normal", I whispered under my breath.

After an hour, we returned.

"Thank you, Aine", both of them said.

I smiled back.

Though things felt better than the storm of yesterday. I still felt the ache of losing my guardian, my sister.

The day passed silently, no harsh winds, no dark clouds, just silence that bloomed flowers in our dark nights.

The stars shined. I sat beside the rock, watching them.

A tear fell down, "What if I would have never been so kind? Would my people have been here?"

Thoughts of the past covered my gaze. The evening, waterfall, lilies and the falling star.

Lost in pain, Aine was unaware of the future that was watching her move, silently, like a predator, waiting for the right moment to capture its prey.

Aine held Kaira's hand, convincing herself that she won't have the same fate.

But little did she know, that death waits for the soul that is scared to lose what they think they own.

Through the dark night, a shadow was quietly watching her. A wide smile, and deep eyes, drowning her, without meeting.

"You can never rewrite your fate", a silent laugh that scared even the dead.

Who is the devil that she can't hate?

The answers are locked in her past.

And she is too fragile to drown in her own pain.

Is it fear or revenge, love or hatred?

Every night she sleeps with questions and every morning wakes up with the fear of nightmares.

A nightmare where she is at the same place, holding even her breath. And the same person is sitting in front of her.

The one who ruined everything.

And she is still unaware why he did it?

What does he want?

"I'll take you back soon", smiling," Till then let your soul know what's fear, so that even my breath would stop your heart from beating."

A loud echo soon vanished into thin air.
