Ethereal Animals

Elena quickly took the basket, cups and plates along with some knives. Then she plucked some fruits that she knew and took them to the river to wash. After washing, she checked the meat turning it to the other side then she went to hv her bath.

In the river, she washed her clothes first and removed the pins that held her hair together. Later, she would go and exchange them for some money and clothes.

As she soaked herself in the water, the memories she had barely managed to suppress came back running.

The tears gathered her eyes but she paused her lips refusing to let down a single drop.

She thought of many things. She wondered if the war was over by now, If Lyon was still alive, If he had escaped and was on his way to look for her.

By the time she emerged from the water, her clothes were dry enough to be worn. She squeezed her hair dry and went back to Aria.

Aria was lying down by the fire taking pleasure in watching the flames. Her injured leg was carefully placed at the side. The cloth had dried up with blood. It looked ghastly again.

Elena took an iron bowl and fetched some water inside. Then she removed the already done lamb and placed it on it. Then she gently removed the cloth and washed the blood and dried up leaves away.

After the water had boiled, she placed the washed piece of cloth inside and massaged it gently then reapplied the leaves.

After that, she cut of a piece of the lamb for herself and Aria and placed some washed fruits in plates for both of them, and water from the waterfall in cups.

The lamb was a little bland without seasoning so she only ate a handful before pushing the rest to Aria who was more than glad to have it. After eating her fruits, she was full a little.

Suddenly exhaustion washed over her and she fell on the floor, few minutes later, she was fast asleep.

Aria looked at her pitifully as she drew closer to her and placed her pur on her still damb hair.

" I'm sorry you have to go through but you are not alone. I'm here and i promise to stay by your side and fulfill my role as your guardian animal. It's still a long way to go Elena. But don't give up. This is what your parents trained you for."

Saying this, she layed down beside her and closed her eyes.

The bright light of the sun was the first thing Aria saw when she opened her eyes. She quickly close it adjusting to the light before slowly opening them again.

She looked to her side and saw Aria still asleep. Caressing her fur, she remembered that it wasnt a dream. Her parents died on her birthday, she had no idea if her fiancee was dead or alive and she was all alone in this world.

" You are not alone Elena." A voice sounded beside her and she looked down to see Aria was awake.

" Did did i just hear you talk?" Elena asked disbelief, surprise, shock and excitement obvious in her eyes.

" Aria stood up slowly and said as slowly. " Yh, buh you don't seem as shocked as i thought you would be."

" Oh My Gosh, my mum told me, she spoke of ethereal animals who come to help people in need and with good heart. That if I'm nice enoughand pure I can get one." Her voice was filled of excitement and her face too. She looked like the young person she actually was.

Aria laughed. " Your mum is right. I am an ethereal animal but not all ethereal animals are good. Just like they are evil beings and good ones, they are also evil and good ethereal animals."

" Ohh, so do you mean that the attack behind Avelon wasnt by a human alone?"

"Yes. Draignon is behind it. He is an evil ethereal Dragon and a very powerful one too. The only one who is rumored to be able to defeat him is my Mum and the his son, my brother. "

" Your brother and mum?" Elena asked.

" Yh. Draignon is the devil king. As you all call it Evil king. He tricked my Mum the angel queen into falling in love with him and bearing his child so he could rule over both the human and Ethereal world.

When my mum found out, she ran away with her son. My brother, then had me with my father."

" OK so what happened next?" Elena could feel that that wasnt all.

Few years ago, Draignon waged a way against us, my Mum was the only one who could fight him but after giving birth to my brother and me, her abilities weakened a lot. She sent my brother to the human world telling him he had to beat his father if she failed to do so and he couldnt let him find him nomayyer what.She lost her life in the battle with Draignon but she also took one of his wings, so he isnt at full power now. Draignon escaped to the human world to look for brother

I left my dad to guard over out kingdom and came here to look for older brother. Then i heard about what happened to Avelon and knew that Draignon was involved so i came to look for you."

Elena sat in deep thought. It seemed like her parents death weren't as simple as she had thought. Draignon. If what happened hadnt happened, she wouldn't have believed this even in a million years. But now, she did everything that had happened suddenly made sense to her. It was probablu the reason why her parents didnt look as shocked, like they knew all hope was lost already.

The both of them were silent for a while before Elena spoke.

" Ok, I understand all this but i don't get why you came to me. You could achieve much more with someone more powerful and experienced than me. "

" No. You are the one. My mum saw it that i was going to be your ethereal animal."

" Your mum? She saw the future?"

" Yh but only to a certain length and it drains a lot of her power. That's how she was able to inform your parents to prepare ypu as they had."

She was right. Her parents knew, they knew that this was going to happen, that they could die any time, that's y her mother always said no one knew what could happen tommorow.

She felt a surge of emotions wash over her. Her parents were really the best. Not everyone could be able to stomach the fact that their only child could die anytime soon yet they did and didnt even show it.

Suddenly she thought of something. Yanking her head up quickly, she looked at Aria.

" Since you guys can see the future then can you check if Lyon is still alive and if he's coming back?
