The Revenge of the Wounded Multimillionaire

The Revenge of the Wounded Multimillionaire

Where It All Began

Nicolas Falcon was thirty-four years old and the owner of the largest oil company in the world.

At first glance, anyone would've assumed he'd always had it all.

That he was born surrounded by luxury, privilege, and opportunity. But the truth couldn't have been more different.

Nicolas was an orphan.

A man who learned early that nothing was given and everything had to be earned. He worked whatever jobs he could find, taking long shifts for minimum wages, until life led him to become the driver for one of the most influential families in the country: the Duvals.

Walking into that house was, at first, a relief.

A steady job. A roof over his head. A quiet routine.

What he didn't know was that it was also the beginning of his ruin.

That was where he saw her for the first time.

Alessia Duval.

The youngest daughter of the family. A girl who could make the rest of the world disappear every time she crossed his path. Bright, radiant, beautiful in a way Nicolas had never seen before.

She was eighteen.

He was twenty-three.

Every morning he drove her to school. He knew her schedule, her friends, her habits. He watched over her in silence, the way someone guards something that doesn't belong to them.

Everything changed the day he got a flat tire.

While he fixed it, they started talking. A simple conversation, almost innocent, that stretched far longer than expected. Alessia spoke with grace, with a sweetness that disarmed him effortlessly. That conversation was the start of something neither of them knew how to stop.

They got back late that day.

And then again.

And again.

The excuses became a pattern. Improvised trips to the movies, aimless drives, entire hours talking about anything and everything. Nicolas let himself feel, never once imagining that for her, none of it might mean the same thing.

He never thought it was all just a teenage crush.

He never believed that a man without a name or a fortune could be nothing more than a distraction.

When he finally worked up the nerve to tell her how he felt, Alessia said she felt the same.

They spent days planning how to say it. They talked about the future, about possibilities, about promises that sounded real. Eventually, the Duvals seemed to accept it — or at least that's what Nicolas believed.

Time passed in weeks and months. He respected Alessia's silences, even when she stopped speaking to him without explanation. He told himself she was young, that she had mood swings, that he needed to be patient.

Meanwhile, Nicolas saved.

He dreamed big.

A friend of his, Emilio, had offered him a partnership abroad. Modest, but promising. A chance to start from scratch and someday offer Alessia something better.

A year went by fast.

Alessia's nineteenth birthday arrived, and her parents threw a lavish party. Nicolas, excited, bought her a simple gift: a music box. In his mind, it was just a stepping stone toward something bigger — a ring, someday.

He didn't know the celebration wasn't for her birthday.

It was her engagement party.

The fiance's name was Nestor Capri.

A young man from abroad.

An arrangement sealed years earlier.

When Nicolas confronted her, Alessia didn't defend him.

She humiliated him.

She told him that a man like him would never be worthy of her. The Capri family joined in the mockery. To them, the idea that a mere driver could compare himself to their son was laughable.

"He's just a worker," Alessia's father said. "My daughter was kind to him. Her charitable act of the day."

"We would never allow someone like him near our daughter," her mother added.

Alessia couldn't meet his eyes.

But she didn't stop the humiliation either.

The laughter, the whispers, the contemptuous stares closed in around him. Nicolas left the gift, his belongings, and the memories in the room where he'd once believed he was loved. He walked out of the mansion not just jobless, but without the heart he'd given away completely.

When he left, he was shattered — but determined.

He took the first available flight to the country where Emilio was. He carried no luggage, just the clothes on his back and a dream he hadn't dared take seriously until now: to become someone no one could ever trample again.

The foreign country was cold.

The language was alien.

The streets looked nothing like the ones he knew.

The first months were brutal.

He worked at a small fuel distribution company. He cleaned up spills, moved barrels, ran endless inventories, inspected rusted machinery. He slept in a cheap room he shared with his partner. There were no profits, but he didn't quit.

He saved every coin like it was a diamond.

At night he attended English classes. He barely understood anything and came back frustrated, but he kept going. Then he studied manuals, technical books, and old industry articles. He learned about logistics, energy markets, and corporate structures.

"Keep this up, and you'll go far," Emilio told him.

Nicolas didn't respond.

He didn't need words.

He needed results.

A year went by like that. Then another.

The contracts came. The travel. The opportunities.

He worked with business leaders, learned to negotiate, to observe, to stay quiet and listen. He partnered with influential people, invested with precision, and took risks others wouldn't dare touch.

He fell.

He got back up.

He learned without making a sound.

Until he founded his own company. Small, almost invisible. But solid.

The years kept passing and his name started appearing in financial magazines. First as a prospect. Then as a force. He signed international deals, closed historic contracts, and built an empire from nothing.

In his tenth year, he founded the oil company that would take him to the top: Falcon Global Energy. In less than three years, it eclipsed older, corrupt competitors to become the most powerful in the world.

Ten years had passed since he walked out of the Duval mansion, humiliated.

Ten years since a girl treated him like a toy.

Ten years since he swore he would never be small again.

And he kept that promise.

Now he was returning to his country, unrecognizable.

With an empire at his back.

With a name that moved markets.

Nicolas Falcon never trusted again.

Never opened his heart again.

Everything he'd built was born from hunger —

and from vengeance.

He came back because it was time they all saw what they'd turned him into.
