After they fought the mercenaries, Damon asked Athena for physical injuries, while cleaning the blood off her sword she replied" No I'm fine are you ok?" when she lied her eyes on him, he had a deep wound on his left arm, She asked him why he didn't tell her about his injury and started to tend to his wounds by bandaging it with a handkerchief. His wounds were serious, and her fingers were trembling seeing blood dripping through it, Damon brushed it off as a scratch still being visibly in pain.
Then Damon suggested that they stop.
“Listen, Athen… the sun is almost setting. We should probably rest,” he said, without meeting her eyes.
Athena noticed it immediately. Her grip on hand kerchief loosened, and a strange unease settled in her chest.
Damon had never avoided her gaze before.
They set up the tents in silence. Then Damon said "l will go into the woods to hunt wild rabbits" till then Athena started to prepare the fire. To start fire she collected small dried sticks from the floor and trees nearby, both to cook their meal and to keep away animals during the night while collecting tree branches she found herself feeling lonely. While hearing the sounds coming from the forest she found herself in a memory of past where she was happy with Luke and George.
Ather a while when Damon returned after hunting rabbits they started to roast rabbits' aroma spreading around making one more hungry as they started to eat both found each other eating in silence, only the sound of crackling of the fire filled the space between them.
For Several times, Athena felt Damon's gaze staring at her, as if weighing his words.
Finally, he seemed about to speak—but hesitated, but he said it anyway "Athen about earlier I was wondering, how are you able wield a sword so swiftly?"
Athena thought about his question for a long time and said "My father taught me how to use a sword,” she said calmly.
Damon listened her carefully.
She continued, her voice steady. “He was a great swordsman and a great father. He trained me and my brother from the time we were young.”
Damon nodded, though the doubt in his eyes did not disappear completely.
“You should rest,” he said. “I’ll take the night watch today.”
Athena nodded in return and retreated into the tent.
While Damon kept watch outside pacing around she lay still, pretending to sleep hearing his footsteps and thinking about Damon's look full of doubt towards her but still protecting her despite his doubts .Her chest felt strangely heavy, tighter than it should have been. She did not want Damon to doubt her. More than that, she realized she did not want to lose him.
The feeling was unfamiliar, and she could not yet name it. But she knew that she should not suppress this feeling. Knowing this feeling will keep her close to Damon all the time, and she didn't hate his feeling herself
