chapter 3

Lincheng University quickly sent a notification for a trial lecture, so

Zhong Yuxiao had to give up on adjusting to jet lag and got up early

to wash up.

The tailored suit fit perfectly. Zhong Yuxiao adjusted his hair in front

of the mirror and changed to a pair of black-framed glasses. The

black frames lived up to their reputation as a powerful tool, instantly

adding a touch of maturity.

He briefly reviewed the lecture content in the car and rubbed the

back of his neck, rescheduling his appointment with Chu Yi.

He didn’t know how long the work would take and originally wanted

to tell Chu Yi not to come, but the other party insisted and even

called specifically, so Zhong Yuxiao had to agree to contact him after

he finished.

“Dr. Chu is very attentive to the Second Young Master’s matters.

When he learned that the Second Young Master’s neck was

uncomfortable, he specifically went to learn massage.”

Mr. and Mrs. Zhong had left early, the driver had taken them, and

Qin Yun volunteered to take Zhong Yuxiao.

“In Dr. Chu’s eyes, I’m probably still a sickly child.” Zhong Yuxiao

pushed his glasses up, joking, “He’s so dedicated, Mom and Dadshould give him a raise.”

A few hundred meters away from Lincheng University, Zhong Yuxiao

got out of the car. He was here to apply for a job, not to show off his

wealth. It wouldn’t look good if people saw him being chauffeured.

“Second Young Master, should I wait for you here?”

“Uncle Qin, you can go back first. I’ll go home myself after I finish.”

Zhong Yuxiao was casual and had never liked ostentation since he

was young. Qin Yun didn’t persuade him further and drove away.

Zhong Yuxiao studied art abroad. The public art course he was

applying for was an elective, and the course he was responsible for

was about aesthetics and art history.

His privileged family background cultivated a broader perspective

than ordinary people. Although it was Zhong Yuxiao’s first time as a

lecturer, he performed exceptionally well, completing the lecture with

ease. After learning who Zhong Yuxiao’s mentor was abroad, the

school immediately decided to sign a contract with him.

“Teacher Zhong, welcome to Lincheng University.”

“Thank you.”

After chatting with the school leaders for a bit, Zhong Yuxiao politely

declined their invitation to dinner.

It was almost noon, and there were more students on campus. As

he walked to the school gate, the gazes of passing students

frequently fell on him. Zhong Yuxiao was used to being stared at and

rejected five or six people who asked for his contact information.

Cafeteria food was bad all over the world, and Lincheng University

was no exception. There was a snack street near the school, crowded with people at mealtimes.

Zhong Yuxiao attended an elite school for junior and senior high

school and found this scene quite novel.

A crowd gathered in front of a grilled cold noodle stall. Zhong Zhili

attended a public high school and had also experienced waiting at

snack stalls. At the time, his parents lectured him, saying that street

food was unsanitary.

Zhong Yuxiao always remembered that.

“One grilled cold noodle, with sausage and egg, no cilantro.”

“Alright, do you want it spicy?”

“Mildly spicy.”

The stall owner worked quickly, making four portions of grilled cold

noodles at once. Zhong Yuxiao stood for a while, imitating the tone

of other customers and ordered, “One grilled cold noodle, no spice.”

He wanted to taste how good this thing was.

“Alright, 7 yuan.”

Zhong Yuxiao had never bought anything so cheap. He took out his

phone to pay and stood aside, watching the stall owner make the

grilled cold noodles: putting down the dough, cracking an egg,

flipping it over, spreading sauce, sprinkling onions, adding sausage…

He watched with great interest.

The aroma of barbecue and fried food filled the air. Zhong Yuxiao

held his newly received textbooks, dressed in a white shirt and black

trousers, his gentle face tinged with a touch of everyday life, out of

place with the others. At the school gate not far away, Xi Shi, leaning against the car door,

lowered his sunglasses and whistled.

Such long legs.

The material of the trousers was smooth and showed off his leg

shape. The tailored clothes had clean lines, accentuating his long,

straight legs. The casual style was slightly different from traditional

suits, more fitted.

Xi Shi was a leg man. He looked at people’s legs first. He followed

those legs upwards, his eyes filled with admiration, his heart itching

more and more. His gaze paused for two seconds when it landed on

the black-framed glasses on Zhong Yuxiao’s nose.

…The last time he saw such old-fashioned glasses was on his high

school homeroom teacher.

“Xi Shi!”

Xi Shi looked away and caught his fling who pounced on him. The

young man’s eyes widened slightly. “Your hair?”

His fling, Miao Yuan, was a student in the dance department of

Lincheng University. He had a delicate, innocent look and good

proportions. Xi Shi’s first impression of him was his legs, slender and

straight. He started pursuing him because of those legs, sending

flowers, gifts, and spending money on meals.

His plan today was to go on a date and naturally end up in bed.

Miao Yuan had recently relented, and just as he was about to make

his move, Xi Shi suddenly lost interest.

He glanced at the man waiting for his grilled cold noodles at the stall

and pushed Miao Yuan away. “Stand still.”“No.” Miao Yuan snorted, putting his arms around Xi Shi’s neck and

rubbing against his neck. “You stood me up yesterday, you have to

compensate me today. I heard there’s a new private restaurant

downtown, I want to try it.”

Xi Shi drove a convertible sports car today, with a bouquet of flowers

in the passenger seat. Miao Yuan’s eyes lit up. “Are those for me?”

Xi Shi pulled his arm away and picked up the flowers. “No.”

Comparison breeds discontent. Looking at Miao Yuan again, he

seemed dull in comparison, instantly losing all his appeal.

The nerd didn’t seem so bad after all.

Xi Shi was a blatant scumbag. “Sorry, I just changed my mind.”

Miao Yuan didn’t react. “What?”

“I’ve lost interest in you.”

Zhong Yuxiao had just received his grilled cold noodles when a head

of green hair appeared in his line of sight, followed by a bouquet of

flowers. Xi Shi smiled charmingly. “Handsome, let’s be friends.”

He was a veteran in the love scene and knew exactly how to exude

charm, his peach blossom eyes full of affection.

Xi Shi’s appearance resembled his mother, Xi Yue. Xi Yue was a

famous beauty in the wealthy circles back then. Xi Shi had a

delicate, almost feminine beauty. His features were exquisite, but

those affectionate eyes were inherited from his scumbag father. He

could look at a dog with deep emotion. Just by gazing at someone

like this, it was as if he wanted to drown them in his gaze.

He looked even more handsome up close, although not his preferred

type.
