A School Life Journey
Ayaan stood silently in front of the school gate, but his mind was screaming.
A new school, new faces, new rules… and the hardest part — starting over all over again.
For his parents, it was just another school switch.
But for Ayaan, it felt like a punishment.
“Every time, a new place, a new class… do they even understand how hard it is to adjust again and again?”
He tightened the strap of his bag on his shoulder, took a deep breath, and walked inside.
The school building was huge modern, clean, and completely unfamiliar.
Flashes of his old school crossed his mind.
“That small school where everyone knew me… and here? Every face feels like a stranger.”
He walked slowly down the corridor, heart pounding.
It felt like every pair of eyes was staring at him.
Every smile looked unfamiliar, every laugh felt like a test.
The walk to his classroom felt longer than it was.
Each step was heavy, filled with thoughts and doubt.
Just as he reached the door, two boys blocked his way.
One of them smirked and said,
“Wanna get in? What if we don’t let you?”Before Ayaan could say anything, a calm but firm voice spoke from behind,
“That’s enough. Let him in he’s new here.”
The presence of the teacher melted the tension instantly.
The boys stepped aside.
Ayaan kept his gaze low and entered. The teacher pointed to an empty seat. Ayaan walked over and sat quietly, hoping the first day would pass without drama.
But it didn’t.
Minutes into the class, the teacher turned to him.
“Ayaan,” he said. “Let’s see how much you know.”
Ayaan froze.
Here it comes.
He knew the answer perfectly.
But his mind raced.
If I answer now, he’ll keep targeting me. Every class. Every time.
If I stay quiet… maybe I’ll disappear into the background.
He looked down and stayed silent.
Other students raised their hands quick to take the spotlight. Ayaan just listened, thinking, observing.
Some people speak to show off what little they know.
Others stay quiet because they already understand too much.
And maybe, just maybe…
He wasn’t here to prove anything.
Not yet.
But before he could think more…
The bell rang.
Ayaan took a small breath of relief, but the uneasiness inside him didn’t go away. As he looked around, he noticed something he hadn’t before the class wasn’t just boys. There were girls too. That thought added another layer of discomfort. “Great... now I really have to watch how I act,” he mumbled to himself.
He was naturally shy especially in new environments. Before he could settle fully, a boy walked up to him with a wide grin. The type of guy who talks to everyone like they’ve been friends forever.
“So, what’s your name?” the boy asked.
“Ayaan,” he replied softly.
The moment his name left his mouth, a strange silence fell across the class. Conversations froze. Eyes shifted.
For a moment, it felt like the room itself was listening.
Ayaan could sense it. He didn’t know why. But something about his name had echoed too loudly like someone had been waiting to hear it.
And in that silence…
something had just begun.
