Episode 4

Urenna’s eyes widened as her car hit her leg. She hit the brakes and it screeched. Chika fell but she groaned and scurried up.

Chika’s breath paused as her gaze locked the licensed plate: “Royal.” She ran.

Urenna slapped her cheeks and hopped out of the car then she stared at her back as she ran off. “Wait!” she shouted and raised a palm. Chika's feet flew.

She raised her gaze and entered the car then sped off.

Chika’s gaze went blurry and she fell on her knees. Adaeze walked to her and raised a cane at her. “You dare not!” she heard and turned.

Arike stood opposite them. She slacked fast glares at Adaeze then she walked to Chika’s side and pulled her up. Chika breathed through her mouth.

“You have no right to play her savior because she's my... I mean MY SLAVE. So get out!” Adaeze spat.

“I don’t want to raise my hands at you but if you push me, I’ll and you won’t be recognizable anymore,” Arike countered.

Adaeze gnashed her teeth, her jaw clenched. She shot glares at Chika. “We shall see!” She snapped her fingers and left.

Anike held Chika’s arms as she walked. “Do you still have chores to do?” she asked and she nodded,

“I can’t return home until I finished washing the clothes at the river,” she retorted and Arike’s nose flared. She held her sides and as they took the path to her father’s house.

Ugomma and Amaechi sat in the throne room. “Have you heard from Obi today?”

“No, his line wasn’t connecting when I tried.”

The door flung open, Urenna walked in. She wore a black dress that kissed her toes. Her feet sat in a pair of red heels. Her palm clutched her staff. Her crown sat on her head.

She walked to Ugomma and bowed, “My Queen...” she bowed, then she walked to Amaechi, “Your Royal Highness...” she bowed again. He patted her back.

She stood up and looked away. Amaechi held her hand, “What upset you, my princess?”

“Father, I’m not upset. Just worried.”

“What happened?” she heard.

“I mistakenly hit a lady on the road...”

Ugomma’s gaze rose, “Is she alive?”

“Yes, but she left even before I could apologize.She looked pale and frail. She needed attention and care but I don’t know why she fled!” She uttered and sighed then sank to the couch.

“Don’t worry. I'll do something about that, She'll get all the necessary treatment,” he said. She stood up to leave then she paused.

“She could be Nze’s daughter, she ran towards Mazi Nze’s house.” She bowed and left.

Ngozi drew closer to Amadi, a young husband, “What does Ike mean by we've gotten our own share of the money for this month?” Ngozi asked.

Amadi cleared his throat. “You know he doesn’t know Chika is still alive. So...”

“I know all about that. I’m talking about our share of Amara’s fortune.” She gnashed her teeth. “Don’t play jokes with my money.”

She held his trousers and sank her palm deep beneath it. She gripped it hard and he screamed. “I’m sorry I wanted to invest in my business.” he said and she let go.

He fell on the couch and held his groins. “If you don’t give me my share of the money, I’ll deal with you. Useless man, since you don’t know what a deal is all about.” she said.

Adaeze pushed the door open and walked in. “Dad, what’s going on?” she said and rushed to her father’s side.

Strands of sweat fell from his face. He breathed heavily. “Get me a hand fan...” he said. Ngozi glared at him and left.

“ Bye mum! Bye Dad!” Chika uttered as Nze and Chiamaka entered her car. She giggled and raced to his room.

Chizitere sat with his laptop. His finger struck the keys. “Hey, it’s just me and you.” Her cheeks flushed amidst words.

His face radiated with smiles as he pushed the laptop and files to the table then he took off her shirt. Her boobs dangled and she played with the tip.

“I haven’t been craving this in a long time,” he said and she drew closer. Her palm trailed to his zips as he took in her lips. Her door swung open and their eyes widened.
