She looked at the woman in the mirror, this gilded cage of a bride, and saw nothing familiar. Where was the girl who loved to read, who dreamed of traveling all over the world, who found solace in the quiet rustling of leaves?

Her eyes held no spark of joy, no anticipation, no fear even. They were simply… empty. Devoid of the flicker of emotion .

She hadn’t wanted this. This wasn't the path she had envisioned.
