CHAPTER FOUR - THE CHILDREN OF TWILIGHT

The citadel of Noctis Vale had grown quieter in the months following the Blood moon coronation. The whispers of prophecy still lingered in the halls, but they had softened into anticipation rather than fear. For Kaelith and Lyriana, the days had become a rhythm of rule and intimacy, of balancing the demands of two clans while nurturing the bond that had united them. Yet destiny, as always, moved unseen, weaving threads that would soon reveal themselves.

Lyriana was the first to sense the change. Her body, attuned to the cycles of moon and blood, carried within it a new rhythm. She felt it in the way her heart quickened beneath the stars, in the way her dreams filled with visions of silver and crimson light. When she told Kaelith, his crimson eyes widened - not with fear, but with awe.

"You carry life," .he whispered, his voice trembling with a rare vulnerability. " Our children."

Lyriana's amber gaze softened, her hand resting upon her abdomen." The prophecy speaks true. Twins".

Kaelith drew her into his arms, his embrace fierce yet tender. For centuries, he had walked the world alone, his immortality a burden as much as a gift. Now, the thought of children - of heirs born of love rather than conquest - filled him with a hope he had never dared to imagine.

The months that followed were marked by both joy and unease. The citadel buzzed with preparations, elders debating the significance of the twins, warriors pledging their loyalty to heirs yet unborn. Some whispered of salvation, others of danger. But within the sanctum of the Sovereigns, Kaelith and Lyriana found peace.

Lyriana's pregnancy was unlike any the healers had ever seen. Her body glowed with lunar energy, her strength undiminished even as life grew within her.

Kaelith remained ever watchful, his presence a constant shadow at her side. He would not allow harm to touch her, nor the children she carried.

When the time came, the Blood moon rose once more, its crimson light bathing the citadel.Lyriana labored beneath its glow, her howls echoing through the halls, primal and fierce. Kaelith stood beside her, his hand clasping hers, his power flowing into her in silent support.

Two cries pierced the night.

The first is strong, commanding - a boy with eyes like molten silver, his presence radiating calm yet undeniable authority. He is name Aelion , the son of sight beyond sight.

The second is softer, melodic - a girl with hair like midnight silk and eyes that shimmered with moonlight. She is Selene, the daughter of illusions and flame.

The twins are born beneath prophecy, yet At that moment, they are simply children - fragile, beautiful, loved. Kaelith gazed upon them with wonder, Lyriana with fierce devotion. TOGETHER, they whispered vows of protection, promises that no prophecy could break.

As the twin grew, their powers began to manifest. Aelion, even as a child, would stare into the distance, his silver eyes clouded with visions. He spoke of things yet to come - storms that had not yet broken, visitors who had not yet arrived. His words unsettled the elders, but Kaelith listened with patience, guiding his son to understand that sight was not destiny, but possibility .

Selene, by contrast, delighted in weaving illusions. She would bend moonlight into shapes and shadows, creating images that danced across the walls of the citadel. Wolves chased phantom prey, vampires sparred with spectral blades, and laughter filled the halls as her illusions brought joy to all who saw them. Lyriana encouraged her daughter creativity, teaching her that illusions were not lies, but stories - tools to reveal truth in ways words could not.

Together, the twins embodied balance . Aelion's visions carried weight, Selene's illusions carried light. Where one saw the threads of fate , the other wove them into beauty. They were children of twilight , heirs of shadow and flame.

Kaelith and Lyriana's love for each other deepened as they raised their children. Nights were spent not in war councils, but in quite moments - watching Aelion trace constellations in the sky , listening to Selene's laughter as she conjured moonlit creatures . For all their power, for all their reign, they were simply parents, bound by devotion.

Yet even in joy, shadows lingered. The Prophecy was not forgotten. The crimson council whispered of training, of molding the twins into weapons. The Silver fang elders of destiny, of heirs who might lead armies. Kaelith silenced them with his command, Lyriana with her fire." They are children, she declared. " They will grow in love, not fear ".

But beyond the citadel, enemies stirred. Factions who feared the rise of the twins plotted in silence, their eyes fixed upon Noctis Vale. They saw not children, but threats - powers that could eclipse their own.

One night, as the twins slept, Kaelith and Lyriana stood upon the balcony, the moon casting its glow upon them. Lyriana leaned against him, her amber eyes filled with both pride and worry. "Do you ever wonder what they will become?" she asked softly.

Kaelith's gaze lingered on the horizon. " I wonder every moment. But whatever they become, they will not walk alone. They will have us. They will have each other ".

Lyriana smiled, her heart swelling with love." Then let the world whisper. Let prophecy tremble. Our children are not pawns. They are sovereigns of their own dawn".

The night deepened, the stars shimmering above. Within the citadel, Aelion dreamed of futures yet unseen, Selene of Illinois yet unmade. And in the hearts of their parents, love burned brighter than any prophecy.

The children of twilight had been born . And already, the world trembled at their dawn.
