When Two Silences Met

When Two Silences Met

Chapter 1 — First Day of College

Author’s Note

This is my original work. I received creative assistance for polishing and refining the writing, but the characters, emotions, and story belong to me.

A story where an introvert meets an introvert-with-an-extrovert-soul. Sounds strange? Maybe. But that’s exactly what makes this journey beautiful. So come with me… let’s see where their silence takes them.

A story of two silences—

one calm, one chaotic… yet both beautiful.

Aarav, our hero, wasn’t the arrogant cold guy you see in dramas… but he definitely looked like one. Good looks? Yes. Attitude? No. But still, he carried a “don’t come near me” aura. Funny to think about… but not so funny when you actually see him. Such a waste of handsome looks, right?

And our heroine?

A troublemaker… but the innocent kind. Bold sometimes, silly sometimes, cute always. The type who could light up a room without even trying.

And this… is where their story begins.

First Day of College

The morning sun cast long shadows across the green campus ground. Students hurried past the college gates—some laughing with friends they already knew, others walking nervously, pretending they weren’t scared.

Inside the main hall, Vida, a first-year student, clutched her backpack tightly. Her eyes scanned the crowded notice board, searching for her classroom number. Around her, seniors handed out flyers for tech clubs, music societies, and cultural committees.

“Hey, are you also from Civil Engineering?”

A cheerful voice spoke beside her.

Vida turned to see a girl smiling brightly, hugging a stack of books to her chest.

“Yeah, I think so,” Vida replied, relieved to find someone just as confused as her.

They walked together toward the classroom. The corridor buzzed with excitement—some students shyly exchanging names, others already arguing about movies, sports, and everything in between.

Soon, the classroom fell silent as the lecturer entered.

His gaze swept across the room, eyes warm and welcoming.

“Welcome to college,” he said. “This isn’t just a place to study. It’s a place to grow, to make mistakes, to learn… and to create memories that will stay with you forever.”

Vida didn’t like crowds. The noise, the energy, the chaos—it overwhelmed her. She preferred quiet corners, small talks, and peaceful spaces. But somewhere deep inside… she felt something else too.

A quiet excitement.

A tiny spark of curiosity.

Because this was the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

She sat near the window, watching sunlight gently fall on the floor. The breeze brushed against her hair, calming her racing heart. Students around her whispered, giggled, took pictures, and laughed like the world had already accepted them.

Vida smiled softly.

Maybe… this wouldn’t be so bad.

Maybe college wasn’t just about fear. Maybe it was about finding yourself.

Little did she know… destiny had already started moving.

Because somewhere else on the same campus…

another silence was walking in.

A calm silence.

Heavy, quiet, distant… yet strangely warm.

He didn’t smile much. He didn’t talk unless needed. He walked like he didn’t belong to this world, yet somehow carried a presence no one could ignore.

Aarav.

And sooner than Vida could imagine…

their paths were going to cross.

Two different silences.

One destiny.

This… was just the beginning.
