CHAPTER FOUR :THE STAGE AWAITS

The Palace Hall rose before them like a jewel, golden spires catching the fading sunlight, lanterns already flickering along the balconies. Sabrina’s breath caught as she stepped through the wide carved doors. The hall was vast, larger than any village gathering they had ever danced for. Glittering chandeliers hung like captured stars, and the polished floors reflected a thousand points of light.

Charlotte’s eyes widened. “It… it’s incredible.”

Clara pressed a hand to her chest. “I feel small here… like a speck of dust in a palace.”

Mireya smirked but her fingers twitched nervously along her golden adornments. “Small or not, tonight they’ll see us.”

Anna gave Sabrina’s hand a reassuring squeeze. “Breathe. Focus. Together, we move as one.”

Even standing in the grand hallway, Sabrina’s chest raced. Fifteen years of fire and loss had led them here. This hall, this night, felt like a test — and a gift.

Backstage, a small room had been set aside for them. The girls gathered there, laughing nervously, adjusting golden bands and ribbons, whispering last-minute instructions.

Charlotte tugged at her hair. “Do you think they’ll notice every little mistake?”

Clara rolled her eyes. “Better they notice your mistakes than mine.”

Mireya smirked. “Focus. Tonight, we show them fire. Nothing else matters.”

Sabrina adjusted the gold bands along her waist and hips, feeling the weight of them, the shimmer catching the candlelight. She glanced at her sisters-in-arms, seeing pride, nervousness, and love reflected in their eyes. Fifteen years ago, they had been children hiding from fire. Tonight, they were warriors of motion, alive and unstoppable.

Anna stepped closer. “Remember, no matter what happens, we’re together.”

“Together,” Sabrina whispered.

The curtain rose slowly, and the glow of the hall’s lanterns caught Sabrina first. Every step she took was deliberate, graceful, a rhythm born from years of survival and movement. The golden adornments along her arms, waist, and hips shimmered, catching the light like molten sunlight.

From the back of the hall, whispers began to ripple through the nobles:

“Look at her… every step…”

“Her waist… the way it moves…”

“She’s… irresistible.”

“I’ve never seen a woman command a room like that.”

Even the men who thought themselves composed shifted in their seats, leaning forward, unable to tear their eyes away. Wives seated nearby tightened their grips on their fans, cheeks flushed, glances darting from Sabrina to their husbands.

Sabrina didn’t falter. She glided across the stage, hips swaying, arms tracing arcs of gold light, curves accentuated by the shimmer of her adornments. Her movements were seductive yet untouchable, a perfect balance of power and grace. Every tilt of her head, every subtle glance, drew the room closer, magnetised by her presence.

Charlotte spun beside her, her laughter light and airy, Elara’s steps sharp and precise, Mireya’s smirk mischievous, and Anna flowed like shadowed fire, grounding the group. But all eyes inevitably returned to Sabrina — the centre, the heartbeat, the goddess in motion.

Whispers grew bolder:

“She moves like a storm…”

“Even from here… I feel it.”

“Impossible… she’s… perfect.”

Sabrina’s chest rose and fell in sync with the drums, hips tracing invisible circles, hands brushing air like silk, gaze steady on the crowd yet distant, untouchable. The nobles leaned forward, some whispering shameless compliments to each other, others daring to imagine more. Desire mingled with awe, and envy flickered in the eyes of those seated close.

She smiled faintly — knowing, controlled, intoxicating. Not for arrogance, but because she felt the fire of survival in every movement. Fifteen years of loss, of hiding, of building herself from ashes, and now every eye was hers to command.

The other girls moved perfectly around her, creating harmony and rhythm. Laughter, whispers, and gasps echoed in the hall. Sabrina’s presence wove the performance into a spell, leaving the audience caught between admiration and craving.

And as the final notes of the music faded, the hall erupted — applause rolling like thunder, murmurs still circling about her allure. Sabrina’s gaze swept across the crowd, knowing that she had claimed their attention, if only for a moment, and that the world had noticed the fire she carried.
