A beginning like any other

"Always a pleasure talking to you" I send the message and then I feel that euphoria after I received the response. I put down my phone and continue writing my fantasy book on my laptop. How was that word spelled? Hmmm... let's try to search it online... weird... there is no internet... what the heck? It worked fine just a moment ago... I suddenly hear someone screaming from downstairs and I run down to see... something walking around... it stops and it begins to do something on the ground... I approach it and I realise it is... cleaning? I walk towards it carefully and I see what it is cleaning... a pool of blood... which is from my father's corpse... I am paralyzed with fear but that thing didn't notice me yet so I carefully walk back upstairs and lock myself in room... I try calling the police but there's no signal... just what the \*\*\*\* is going on?!?

I know I have to get out of here so I open my window and jump on the roof of the building next to it. Oh my god... that thing wasn't the only one... I see a monster in my aunt's yard next door, it looks human, but it has a huge belly and a huge mouth... and now I see why... next to it it's a body... my aunt Mery who is now a bloody mess and I look horrified as the monsters swallow her whole body... I'm screwed...

I try to think of something... but nothing comes so I decide to get the hell out of here as fast as possible! I climb down the roof and I get to my car, but as I get in I see Lucky, my cat! I can't possibly leave her here with those creatures! I go to get her but as I do I see another creatures approaching... but that one looked much smaller and very angry so I run inside the central heating room and I lock it behind me... that was probably a bad choice because this room has only one door and no windows... that little thing came after me and is trying to break the door from the outside... I don't have much time so I decide to try to fight it and when I look around I realise what I can do... I grab a can of diesel and a lighter, I use them to light a stick, then I break the window of the door with a kick and poor the diesel on the horrifying midget before putting it on fire with the burning stick. Good thing the door's window was so high, otherwise it could have entered, I hear it screaming as it burns and I know the sound will probably attract other monsters like it so I grab my cat and run to the vehicle, thank god mum always leaves the keys in inside the car because I would be screwed now otherwise... I turn on the engine and drive the car out of my yard before driving as fast as I can towards the town nearby, I don't have my license yet but I don't think that matters now...

I soon reach the town and I look at my phone trying to see if there's signal now... and there is! I try calling my family and friends trying to find out what happened. I call my mother and grandparents but they don't answer and I fear for the worst... I try calling my deskmate Sandra, she answers and she sounds very startled, she says she locked herself and her sister inside their room and that there monsters outside, their parents didn't return and they are scared... I look outside the car and I see why... those monsters are almost everywhere in sight and oh shit! One is running after my car! I tell Sandra I have to hang up and I accelerate but somehow the monster is actually catching up! It looks like a wendigo, but it has 4 legs and it's running after me faster than a cheetah. It will definetely catch up so I come up with a better strategy than running away! I turn around the car around before crashing into it, but it's still alive and trying to reach me so I accelerate as much as I can, I grab Lucky and jump out of the car before the car crashes and explodes. Phew, I have a few bruises now and I just destroyed mum's car but both me and Lucky are alive! Shit... now I will probably get surrounded by those things because of all the noise I made... I take a rock and break the window of a car nearby with a rock before getting inside... now I finally get to see if the guide I read on the internet about how to start a car without a key really works... and it does! The car starts, but as I turn my head I see a monster outside my window so I hit the throttle as hard as I can. I see the monster behind trying to follow me but they are much slower than the one before. I try to call the police but all lines are busy apparently, just what the hell is going on?!? I call my other friends but most of them don't answer, but one does, Simina, and she's saying... "You call at the worst times, idiot! What the\- No! Aghhh!" And the calls ends... Meh, I never liked her anyway... there are still some people I can call... maybe my cousin, Christine... I try dialling her number... she answered! She asks me what's wrong and I tell her about what happened, she doesn't know apparently, she is living alone outside the city because her parents are working abroad so I tell her to stay inside and lock all doors and windows until I get there with my car, I hope I will make it there alive and before something happens to her...
