Chapter 5- Zodiac Warnings

Luna had never been afraid of the night.

She liked how the world softened after sunset — fewer noises, fewer expectations, more room for thoughts to breathe. Her bedroom window faced the sky, and tonight it was wide open, letting cool air brush against her curtains.

She lay on her bed with her phone glowing above her face.

Her astrology app refreshed.

She hadn’t planned to check it.

Her thumb moved anyway.

Daily Zodiac Alert — Cancer Moon Rising

Be careful with the people who enter your life too easily. Some connections shine before they burn.

Luna frowned.

“That’s dramatic,” she whispered.

Still, she reread it.

Enter your life too easily.

Her mind didn’t have to search long before landing on Ethan.

She locked her phone and stared at the ceiling, where tiny glow-in-the-dark stars were scattered from years ago. She used to believe they protected her somehow. Now they just watched.

Her phone buzzed.

A message.

Ethan: Do you ever feel like the day keeps replaying itself?

Her heart skipped.

She sat up.

Luna: What do you mean?

Three dots appeared.

Then stopped.

Then appeared again.

Ethan: Like everything today felt familiar before it happened.

She hesitated, then typed.

Luna: Funny… my horoscope said something similar.

Ethan: You actually read those things?

She smiled softly.

Luna: Not because they’re true. Because sometimes they’re honest.

A pause.

Ethan: Mine would probably just say “stop overthinking.”

She laughed quietly into her pillow.

Luna: What would you do if something warned you about someone you just met?

The dots stayed longer this time.

Ethan: Depends. Are they dangerous?

Luna: Not dangerous. Just… important too fast.

Minutes passed.

Luna almost thought he wouldn’t reply.

Then:

Ethan: Important is scarier than dangerous.

Her chest tightened.

She typed slowly.

Luna: Why?

Ethan: Because dangerous people hurt you once. Important people change you.

She stared at the words.

They felt too close to something real.

Outside her window, the sky had darkened fully. Clouds moved slowly, hiding and revealing stars like blinking eyes.

Her phone buzzed again.

Ethan: Did the stars warn you about me?

Her breath caught.

She didn’t want to lie.

She didn’t want to scare him.

So she chose something gentle.

Luna: They didn’t warn me about you. They warned me about what happens when you care without noticing.

Another pause.

Then:

Ethan: Do you care?

The question felt louder than it should have.

Luna rolled onto her side, staring at the night.

Luna: I think… I’m curious. And curiosity is the first step to caring.

On the other side of the city, Ethan sat on his bed too, phone in hand, jaw tense. He told himself it was just conversation. Just coincidence. Just another girl.

But his heart didn’t listen.

Ethan: My zodiac sign is Capricorn. Apparently we’re supposed to be “emotionally careful.”

She smiled.

Luna: That sounds like you.

Ethan: And yours?

Luna: Cancer. We feel things before we understand them.

He exhaled softly.

Ethan: That sounds like trouble.

She typed back:

Luna: Or magic.

Outside, thunder rumbled far away — not a storm, just a warning growl from the clouds.

Luna’s app buzzed again.

A second notification.

She opened it.

Zodiac Night Message:

When the universe repeats a name, listen. Not every sign protects you. Some prepare you.

Her fingers went cold.

She looked at the chat.

At Ethan’s name glowing at the top.

She typed one last thing before sleeping.

Luna: Ethan… if the universe is trying to say something, promise me we won’t ignore it.

Seconds later:

Ethan: Only if you promise we won’t run from it either.

Luna smiled, nervous and warm at the same time.

She locked her phone.

Outside, the stars stayed quiet.

However somewhere between zodiac warnings and unread feelings, something had already started moving — slow, invisible, and impossible to stop.

Because the universe doesn’t shout first.

It whispers.
