There was a loud shriek and they jump when a huge even more grotesque vampire looking thing landed in the middle of them.

"Zaelia!" Casey screamed. "Make it go. Think of something else girl." She dragged them back. "Did you have to imagine it so horrible. Mr Bones wasn't a hottie but this one lost the genetic lottery. Your mind is messed up."

The sword appeared in their saviour's hand again. "Zaelia. " He said staring into her eyes while the creature flapped it's mishapped wings and lumbered forward. "Think of something you like, that's pleasant and brings you joy."

"I'm trying!" Her voice trembled as her eyes darted between the vampire her saviour, the vampire her saviour and then back again.

The vampire swelled even more, its body bulking up as worms spilled from splits in its rotting flesh. Its teeth lengthened, jagged and slick.

"Omg." Zaelia, you're losing it. "Casey screamed. The creature lunged. Their savior stepped forward, blade meeting claw with a sharp clang. He pushed it back with controlled precision. "We have to work on your imagination, it's fucked up.

He raised his sword to finish the vampire when its bones started to fold inward. Wings snapped and rotting flesh smoothed into soft fur. A tiny, wide-eyed kitten blinked up at them... then bolted into the shadows.

"Girl I'm not going on any adventures with you again. This was too much." Casey's head sagged against her shoulder in relief.

"Come let me heal you so we can move on from here." Mr Tall dark and handsome, took Zaelia's injured arm.

"You know you didn't tell us your name?" Casey said watching him inspect Zaelia's arm.

"Odin."

"Odin?" Casey repeated. "I like that. Rolls off the tongue, pretty nice. I really do like how you handle your sword."

"Casey please." Zaelia glared at her. Odin do you have some sort of ointment for it" Zaelia asked. "Or are you going to stitch it. It's pretty deep..."

He simply looked at her, then closed his eyes. Warmth Infused her from within the wound spreading outward in slow, radiant waves. "Hey! What are you doing?" She gasped. There was a faint tugging sensation, slightly painful, like threads pulling the flesh together beneath her skin. Then it stopped. The wound was gone. But his hand still remained gently stroking the place where it had been. Her mouth fell open and so did Casey's.

"How did you do that?" Zaelia's eyes raised to his. "What are you."

He looked up, listening. "We need to leave."

"Thank you."

“Wait, leave? To go where?” Casey said.

Odin’s gaze swept the strange clearing around them, his jaw tightening. The air itself seemed to grow heavier, like the forest was holding its breath.

"We want to go back." Zaelia continued testing out her arm to see if it was really healed. "Last we know we were in a cemetery. Can you take us back to there?"

“Yeah you have to take us back." Casey piped up. "One second we we were walking past graves and the next—bam—we were sucked into this place."
