The office was unusually quiet that evening. Only the soft hum of the air conditioner and the faint clicking of keyboards filled the space.
Taehyung sat at his desk, staring at the report in front of him, but his mind wasn’t on work. Every word on the paper blurred as memories of the morning played over and over.
The way V had watched him. The way his sharp gaze had softened for a fraction of a second.
A soft knock on the glass door startled him.
“Taehyung,” V’s voice came from the other side, calm but heavy.
Taehyung looked up, heart skipping. “Yes… hyung?”
The word slipped out again. He hated himself for saying it, yet it felt natural.
V stepped inside, closing the door behind him. He didn’t sit. He didn’t smile. He simply stood, hands in his pockets, looking at Taehyung like he could see right through him.
“You’ve been quiet all day,” V said finally. “Is something wrong?”
Taehyung swallowed hard. “I… I’m fine.”
V’s eyes narrowed slightly. He didn’t believe him. He never did.
“Taehyung,” he said, softer this time, almost a whisper, “I know you’re trying to hide it… your feelings. But you don’t have to.”
Taehyung’s chest tightened. He hadn’t expected V to say that. Not here. Not now.
“I… I can’t,” Taehyung admitted. “I shouldn’t… I… I’m just your brother.”
V’s expression darkened, a shadow passing over his sharp features. For the first time, his walls seemed to shake.
“You are my brother,” V said slowly. “But… it doesn’t mean I don’t notice. It doesn’t mean I don’t feel.”
Taehyung’s breath caught. The words hung in the air like fragile glass, dangerous and beautiful.
V took a step closer. His hand reached out, brushing a stray lock of hair from Taehyung’s forehead. The touch was light, yet it set fire to Taehyung’s heart.
“Stop hiding from me,” V whispered, voice low and raw. “I can see everything. Every look, every heartbeat… I know what you feel.”
Taehyung’s hands trembled. He wanted to reach for V, wanted to close the space between them, but fear held him back.
“Hyung… I—”
V shook his head, cutting him off gently. “Shh… I know.”
The silence that followed was heavier than any words could carry. Two hearts beating fast in a room full of unspoken truths.
Taehyung finally dared to look up, into V’s eyes. There was no coldness there now. Only the faintest hint of something he couldn’t name.
“I’m… scared,” Taehyung admitted, barely audible.
V’s hand remained on his shoulder, steady, grounding him. “So am I,” he said softly. “But we’ll face it… together.”
For the first time, Taehyung felt warmth seep through his chest. Maybe, just maybe, their fragile line between brotherhood and something more could survive the storm.
Let's see what future hold
