The mountain range outside Hoshinara had stood untouched for centuries.
Until today.
BOOOOOOOOM!!!
A column of silver-blue light erupted into the sky, splitting the clouds in a perfect circle. The ground shattered outward in every direction, trees flattening like blades of grass under a hurricane.
At the center of the destruction stood Takahiro Hoshino.
Breathing hard.
Energy crackled around him like distant stars collapsing.
“…Okay,” he muttered, staring at his glowing hands. “That was definitely more than I meant to do.”
Since the sky had chosen him the day before, the Star Core inside his chest had refused to stay quiet. It pulsed with heat, like a second heartbeat. Every time he focused, the power answered instantly — violently.
He stepped forward.
The ground cracked beneath his foot.
“Alright… let’s try control this time.”
He closed his eyes.
The silver-blue aura around him flickered, then steadied. Wind circled him in spirals. Pebbles began to float upward.
Inside his chest, the Star Core burned brighter.
He could feel it adapting.
Growing.
Waiting.
Suddenly—
The air shifted.
Not violently.
Not explosively.
Just…
Heavy.
Takahiro’s eyes snapped open.
Someone was there.
Across the shattered canyon, standing calmly atop a broken cliff edge, was a tall figure dressed in dark battle armor. Black hair flowed slightly in the wind. His eyes were sharp. Cold. Evaluating.
Raizen Kurogane.
He didn’t radiate wild energy.
He radiated pressure.
“You’re the chosen one,” Raizen said flatly.
Takahiro tilted his head. “Uh… hi?”
Raizen stepped forward.
The rock beneath his feet disintegrated instantly from the force of his aura.
“I expected more.”
Takahiro blinked.
“…Excuse me?”
Raizen’s eyes narrowed.
“You’re smiling.”
He vanished.
Takahiro barely had time to react before—
CRACK!!!
A fist slammed into his guard, sending him launching across the canyon like a missile. He smashed through three cliff walls before stopping in a cloud of debris.
Dust settled.
Takahiro stood up slowly.
Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
“…Okay,” he said, wiping it away. “That was kinda cool.”
Raizen reappeared above him.
“You find this amusing?”
Takahiro grinned.
“I mean… yeah. You’re strong.”
Raizen’s aura ignited — deep crimson lightning tearing around his body.
The sky darkened.
“I am Raizen Kurogane. Prince of a fallen universe.”
The pressure increased tenfold.
“My world was erased by the gods you now represent.”
Takahiro’s smile faded slightly.
“Oh.”
Raizen continued.
“I trained in gravity that would crush your bones. I fought beasts born in dying stars. I survived annihilation.”
He raised his hand.
A sphere of dark energy formed instantly.
“And you laugh.”
He fired.
The blast tore across the canyon, vaporizing everything in its path. Takahiro leapt upward at the last second, barely dodging. The beam carved a glowing trench miles long.
Takahiro hovered in the air now, aura flaring.
“…Alright. Guess we’re doing this.”
The Star Core pulsed violently.
His aura expanded.
Silver-blue light erupted outward, pushing back against Raizen’s crimson lightning.
Raizen’s eyes sharpened.
“So it’s true.”
Takahiro clenched his fists.
Energy roared around him.
“Stellar Mode!”
BOOOOOOM!!!
His hair lifted, glowing silver-blue. His eyes shone white. The air around him warped as if space itself struggled to contain him.
Raizen didn’t flinch.
Instead—
He smiled slightly.
“Good.”
He vanished again.
This time, Takahiro reacted.
Their fists collided mid-air.
The impact split the clouds in half.
Shockwaves rippled across the entire mountain range.
They exchanged blows at impossible speed — punch, kick, elbow, blast — each strike sending explosive bursts of energy across the sky.
Takahiro laughed mid-fight.
“This is AWESOME!”
Raizen’s expression remained cold.
“You are reckless.”
He drove his knee into Takahiro’s stomach and sent him crashing into the earth.
The ground erupted.
Takahiro coughed, pushing himself up.
But something inside him shifted.
The Star Core adapted.
His breathing slowed.
His movements sharpened.
Raizen charged again—
But this time, Takahiro moved first.
He sidestepped.
Countered.
Landed a clean punch across Raizen’s jaw.
The impact stunned him for half a second.
Raizen slid backward mid-air.
“…You evolved,” he muttered.
Takahiro floated there, aura steady.
“I told you,” he said, smiling again. “I get stronger when I fight strong people.”
Raizen stared at him.
For the first time—
He felt it.
Excitement.
“Good,” Raizen said.
His aura flared violently, expanding across the sky.
“Then grow stronger.”
He pointed upward.
Because high above them—
Space was cracking again.
And from within the tear in reality…
A massive divine presence began descending.
The Tournament was watching.
