Chap. 5

The room became silent.

The officer sat across from me, waiting for me to speak.

I took a deep breath.

I was about to tell him everything — how they had been bullying me, how they attacked me in the gym.

But before I could say a single word—

The door suddenly burst open.

A man rushed into the room.

He grabbed my collar violently and shouted, “You’re the one who killed my son! Admit it! Say it!”

His voice was full of rage.

For a moment, I couldn’t even understand what was happening.

But then I recognized him.

He was the Chief of the City Police.

I had seen him many times before — on television, in newspapers, and even on huge banners around the city.

The officers inside the station quickly pulled him away from me and dragged him outside the room.

I collapsed onto the floor.

My legs felt weak.

At that moment, I finally understood something very clearly.

One wrong move…

One wrong word…

And my entire life could end behind prison bars.

My heart was racing uncontrollably, and the fear became too much to bear.

My vision blurred, my legs lost their strength, and I collapsed onto the cold floor.

When I opened my eyes, I realized I was in a hospital.

A nurse noticed that I was awake and immediately called the doctor.

Soon, both the doctor and the police officer entered the room together.

The doctor checked my condition carefully.

“Don’t be scared,” he said calmly. “You’re just exhausted. That’s why you collapsed.”

I nodded quietly.

The doctor then turned to the officer, whispered something to him, and left the room.

I looked at the officer, expecting him to tell me what the doctor had said.

He walked closer to the bed and asked, “How are you feeling now?”

“I’m fine,” I replied softly.

The officer smiled.

“Get some proper rest. The doctor said you can leave after the treatment is finished. And don’t worry about the hospital bill. Our station will take care of it since this situation happened because of us.”

I gave a small smile. “Okay.”

The officer began walking toward the door. I finally started to feel a little relieved.

But just as he reached the door, he suddenly turned back toward me.

“About the investigation,” he said. “You’ll need to come to the police station tomorrow after school. You can do that, right?”

I didn’t have the energy to answer properly, so I simply nodded.

He handed me his card.

“Call me when you arrive at the police station tomorrow. And if you need any kind of help, contact me.”

After saying that, he quietly left the room.

After leaving the hospital, I went straight to the orphanage.

When I arrived, the dean called me into his office.

“What is happening at your school?” he asked seriously. “The police called.”

I calmly replied, “There is nothing to worry about. It’s all just rumors.

Everything will be clear tomorrow.”

He simply said, “If you think so.”

He didn’t ask about my health or how I was feeling.

But I wasn’t surprised.

I was already used to this kind of treatment.
