Chapter 2: The Golden Cage of a Goddess

The interior of Su Qian’s SUV was a silent, leather-scented cocoon that isolated me from the chaotic neon world outside. As we glided through the streets, I watched the city of Aethelgard pass by in a blur of towering steel. Everything was scaled for giants. Even the streetlights looked like the masts of ancient ships.

I sat as far away from the driver’s seat as possible, my knees pulled to my chest. My small wings were cramped against the expensive upholstery, but I didn't dare move. Su Qian didn't speak. She drove with one hand on the wheel, her silver eyes focused on the road, her presence filling the cabin like a heavy, invisible fog.

"Where are you taking me?" I finally croaked, my voice sounding pathetic even to my own ears.

"Home," she replied simply. Her voice didn't waver. "My home. It’s the only place in this city where someone of your... 'rarity' won't be picked apart by the vultures."

"I'm not a rare animal, Su Qian. I'm a man."

She glanced at the rearview mirror, a tiny, amused smirk touching her lips. "A man who stands at my waist? A man with wings that tremble every time I look at him? In this world, Li Yuan, you are a treasure. And treasures need a secure vault."

Before I could protest further, the car entered a private underground tunnel. After a series of security scans that bathed us in blue light, the SUV stopped in a private elevator bay.

Su Qian stepped out, the car door closing with a soft, expensive thud. She walked around to my side and opened the door. Instead of waiting for me to climb out, she reached in. Her large hands grabbed me around the waist—holding me like a doll—and pulled me out.

I felt my face heat up. I was twenty-five years old, for heaven's sake! But struggling against her was like fighting a stone statue. Her grip was firm, not painful, but absolute. She carried me into the elevator, and the doors hissed shut.

The ascent was silent. When the doors opened again, I gasped.

We were in a penthouse that looked like it belonged to an empress. The walls were floor-to-ceiling glass, offering a panoramic view of the glowing city below. The furniture was minimalist and sleek, but the scale was intimidating. The sofa was long enough to be a bed for three people, and the coffee table reached my chest.

Su Qian set me down on a polished marble floor. I felt like a bug on a dinner plate.

"This is your new reality," she said, removing her blazer to reveal a silk blouse that accentuated her powerful frame. "There is a room prepared for you. My staff will provide clothing that actually fits you. For now, you will eat, and then you will rest."

"And if I refuse?" I asked, trying to find a shred of my dignity.

Su Qian walked toward me. Every step she took made the floor vibrate. She stopped when she was inches away, looming over me like a thunderstorm. She leaned down, her blonde hair falling around me like a silken curtain, trapping me in her scent.

"Refusal is an option only for those who have a choice, Li Yuan," she whispered, her voice low and dangerous. "You have no ID, no money, and no place in this world. Outside that door, you are prey. Inside here, you are protected. Which would you prefer?"

I looked away, unable to meet her piercing silver gaze. She was right. I was a literal demon in a world of giants. I had nothing.

"Good," she said, straightening up. She reached out and flicked one of my horns gently. "I like smart boys. Now, come. It’s past your dinner time."

She led me—or rather, expected me to follow—into a dining area where a table was set. But as I looked at the massive chair, I realized another humiliating fact. I couldn't even climb onto it without help.

Su Qian seemed to realize this. Without a word, she picked me up again and sat me on the chair, placing a velvet cushion behind my back so I wouldn't sink into the upholstery.

"Tonight, we eat simply," she said, sitting opposite me. Even sitting down, she was taller than I was when I was standing.

A silver tray slid toward me, carried by a drone. On it was a plate of what looked like exquisite fruit and a glass of warm, thick milk.

"Drink," she commanded. "Male Succubi require specific nutrients to keep their essence stable. Especially after a dimensional jump."

I looked at the milk, then at her. She was watching me with an intensity that made my skin crawl and tingle at the same time. I picked up the glass with both hands—it was heavy, like a beer stein in my grip—and took a sip.

It was sweet. Too sweet. It felt like liquid energy sliding down my throat. My wings, which had been dull and heavy, suddenly felt light. A strange warmth spread through my chest, centering right where my "core" was supposed to be.

"Is it to your liking?" she asked, her eyes never leaving mine.

"It’s... it's fine," I mumbled, hiding my face behind the glass.

"Everything in this penthouse is yours to use, provided you stay within the perimeters," Su Qian said, leaning back. "But remember the one rule, Li Yuan."

I looked up. "What rule?"

"You belong to Su Qian. Not the Su Corporation, not the city. Me." She tapped the table with a long, manicured finger. "If you try to leave, if you try to show those wings to anyone else... the cage will get much smaller. Do I make myself clear?"

I swallowed hard, the sweet milk suddenly feeling like a collar around my neck. I nodded slowly.

"Words, little one," she pressed.

"Yes... I understand, Su Qian," I whispered.

"Good boy."

As I finished my meal under her watchful eye, I looked out at the city lights. I was safe from the Goblins, yes. But looking at the woman sitting across from me, I realized I had just traded a quick death for a beautiful, gilded life of captivity.

And the scariest part? As the warmth of the milk settled in my stomach, I found myself leaning toward her, craving the very dominance that was keeping me prisoner.
