The wind outside pushed the curtains gently into the classroom, making the sunlight flicker across the desks. For a moment, the light landed directly on Noah’s face.
That was the first time Lily saw his eyes clearly.
They were calm, almost thoughtful, like someone who spent more time thinking than talking.
The bell suddenly rang.
The sharp sound broke the quiet focus of the classroom immediately.
Students stood up at once, chairs scraping loudly against the floor. Conversations started again as everyone packed their bags and rushed toward the door.
Lily stayed seated for a moment, slowly putting her books into her backpack.
When she finally stood up and turned around, she noticed something strange.
Noah hadn’t moved.
While everyone else hurried out of the room, he remained sitting at his desk, looking down at something he was writing.
Lily hesitated.
For a second she wondered if she should say something.
Maybe just a simple “hi.”
Maybe ask if he needed help finding the next classroom.
But the moment passed quickly.
Her friends called her name from the hallway.
“Lily! Hurry up!”
She turned away and walked toward the door.
By the time she glanced back once more, Noah had finally stood up and was slipping his notebook into his bag.
Their eyes almost met again.
Almost.
But someone walked between them at that exact moment, and the small connection disappeared before it could even begin.
Lily didn’t know it yet, but this would become a strange pattern between them.
Moments that almost happened.
Words that almost got spoken.
And feelings that would slowly grow in the quiet spaces between those unfinished moments.
Outside the classroom, the hallway was alive again.
Students pushed past each other, laughing loudly and complaining about homework. Lockers slammed open and shut, echoing through the long corridor.
Lily joined her friends near the staircase.
“Did you see the new guy?” one of them whispered immediately.
Lily tried to act normal.
“Yeah… I guess.”
“He’s kind of quiet.”
Another friend shrugged. “Maybe he’s shy.”
Lily didn’t say anything.
For some reason, the word shy didn’t feel right.
Noah didn’t seem nervous.
He seemed… distant.
Like someone who had already lived a hundred stories before arriving here.
Lily shook the thought away and followed her friends down the stairs.
But behind them, at the end of the hallway, Noah stepped out of the classroom a few seconds later.
He paused near the window for a moment, watching the crowd of students moving through the corridor.
His eyes briefly searched the hallway.
And without realizing it…
They stopped on Lily.
He watched as she disappeared down the staircase with her friends, laughing softly at something someone said.
For a second, something thoughtful crossed his expression.
Then he looked away, adjusted his backpack, and walked in the opposite direction.
Their first day in the same classroom had ended.
But their story had only just begun.
Maybe you like it..heheh😅..i will try my best..🌹🫶
