Chapter 4

...“Kian… he was attacked,” the man finally finished, his voice shaking with fear....

...Before anyone could react, several fishermen appeared near the shore. They were supporting injured men between them, slowly helping them walk toward the village. Some had blood on their clothes, and others were barely able to stand....

...The villagers rushed forward in panic....

...“Careful!”...

...“Bring them inside!”...

...“Call the doctor!”...

...The doctor quickly stepped forward and began guiding the injured fishermen toward the clinic hut....

...Among the wounded men, Vira’s eyes suddenly found Kian....

...Her heart skipped a beat....

...He was badly injured. Not only was his shoulder wounded, but the cut on it was deep, and blood had soaked through his clothes....

...Without thinking, Vira ran toward him....

...“Kian!” she called softly....

...Two fishermen were supporting him as they helped him walk inside the clinic....

...The doctor immediately began treating the injured men. Vira stood beside him, helping carefully while trying to remain calm....

...“Vira, help me with the bandages,” the doctor said....

...She nodded quickly and began handing him the cloth and herbs he needed. Two village women also joined them, preparing herbal medicine and warm drinks to ease the pain of the wounded fishermen....

...The small clinic soon filled with the smell of herbs and smoke as everyone worked together....

...One by one, the injured fishermen were treated....

...But Kian’s condition worried them the most....

...As the night grew deeper, his fever slowly began to rise because of the pain and the deep wound on his shoulder....

...Vira checked his forehead quietly....

...He was burning with fever....

...Her fingers tightened slightly....

...She wanted to use her magic to heal him....

...But she couldn’t....

...The doctor remained beside him most of the time, carefully watching his condition. Kian’s father was also sitting nearby, his face filled with worry....

...Vira stood quietly near the bed, observing everything....

...That was when she noticed something strange....

...Two old men were sitting in the corner of the room, silently watching Kian with serious expressions. Their eyes remained fixed on him as if they were thinking about something deeply....

...Curiosity slowly grew inside her....

...After gathering her courage, Vira walked closer to Kian’s father....

...“Uncle… may I ask something?” she said gently....

...He looked at her with tired eyes. “What is it, child?”...

...Vira hesitated for a moment before speaking....

...“What about his mother?” she asked carefully....

...Kian’s father froze slightly....

...For a moment, he did not answer....

...Before he could speak, the doctor looked at Vira curiously....

...“Daughter,” he said gently, “why are you so curious about him? Do you… like him?”...

...Vira’s face turned slightly red....

...“I—actually—”...

...But before she could finish speaking, Kian’s father spoke quietly....

...“Girl,” he said slowly, “you also have a past you cannot remember. What will happen if one day you remember everything… and leave him? Have you thought about that?”...

...Vira lowered her head....

...Silence filled the room....

...For two long minutes, she said nothing....

...Then she slowly lifted her head again....

...“Uncle,” she said softly but firmly, “I want to know about him. And… I do like him.”...

...Her voice trembled slightly, but her eyes were honest....

...“And even if I remember my past,” she continued, “I will not leave. Before anything else… I want to stay here. I want to stay with him.”...

...The doctor and Kian’s father exchanged a quiet glance....

...The doctor gently placed a hand on the old man’s shoulder and nodded....

...It was time....

...Kian’s father looked at Vira again, his expression heavy with memories....

...“Then… I will tell you,” he said slowly....

...“I will tell you,” the old man said slowly....

...Vira’s face filled with curiosity as she waited for him to continue. The room had grown quiet, and the soft crackling of the fire was the only sound inside the clinic....

...For a moment, the man stared at Kian’s sleeping figure....

...Then he spoke again....

...“But first, you must understand something,” he said in a heavy voice. “I am not his biological father.”...

...Vira’s eyes widened in shock....

...“You’re… not?” she asked softly....

...The old man shook his head....

...“No,” he replied quietly. “Kian is not my real son.”...
