THE MATCH MAKER

POV -Princess Amara Bellavine

----------------------------------

“It’s really glad to meet you, Miss Helena Stroud,” I said with a polite smile, trying to match the elegance radiating from the beautiful woman standing before me.

Helena Stroud—CEO of the Stroud Group. Middle aged, ambitious, powerful, and deeply connected to half the royal families in Europe. Most importantly… our family’s long-time benefactor. Her soft brown eyes studied me with quiet intensity. She looked elegant—almost too elegant, as if carved for the world of crowns and diplomacy.

“My darling, it’s time for our business,” my mother announced, her voice sharp and perfectly poised. The Queen never wasted a second. She flashed Helena a refined smile full of impatience.

“Yes, Your Majesty.” Helena bowed gracefully.

I felt a knot tighten in my chest. No, not again.

“Mother, can I… can I say a word?” I asked, stepping forward, interrupting before she could continue.

Her gaze slid to me—cold, expressionless, calculating. “Yes, you may, dear.”

But her eyes clearly said: Choose your words wisely.

“Mother… I don’t—”

She cut me off instantly.

“It is your duty, Amara. You cannot deny it.”

Her tone was icy—commanding.

“A woman should be a beauty with brains… and responsible too.”

The words struck me like a whip, familiar yet still painful.

“Yes… Your Majesty. My apologies.”

I bowed.

She had never spoken to me like a mother—only like a queen disciplining a subordinate. To her, I was an heir, a responsibility, an ornament she had to polish for the world.

My father gave warmth.

My mother gave commands.

Helena looked at me with a troubled expression, clearly sensing the tension. I tried to smile to say I’m fine, but the smile didn’t reach my eyes. It failed miserably.

Helena cleared her throat and began her task with professional precision.

“There are several potential candidates for the Princess,” she said, opening her files.

“Prince Zyan from Albernia… elegant and highly educated. Then Michael Conti from Italy—an influential businessman. And Mr. Park Jisoo from Korea, a medical prodigy…”

She spoke smoothly, perfectly, like a practiced matchmaker who knew her job.

My mother, on the other hand, scanned each photo and every detail like a hunter choosing prey. Her stubbornness filled the room—she would find a suitor for me, even if she had to turn the whole world upside down.

While Helena continued listing candidates, my eyes drifted toward the stack of files on the table. Bored and resigned, I reached out and began scrolling through them, flipping the pages absentmindedly.

Then—a photo slipped loose and fell into my hands.

I picked it up slowly…

And forgot how to breathe.

A man stared back at me with cold, icy-blue eyes. Eyes that felt like winter storms—dangerous, breathtaking, impossible to ignore. His jawline was sharp, his expression unreadable, and there was something magnetic… something that made my pulse skip.

My heart thudded softly—once, twice—like it had recognized him before my mind did.

“Princess? Did you find anything?” Helena’s voice reached me faintly, as if from a great distance.

I didn’t look up. I didn’t blink.

“Yes,” I whispered, still entranced.

Then, louder—“Yes… I found my suitor.”

A smile tugged at my lips—soft, involuntary, completely out of my control.

I turned the file over, my fingers trembling slightly as I looked at the name printed below the photo.

VINCENT MORETTI.

A name that sounded like trouble wrapped in silk.

A name that felt like destiny.
