Chapter 1 Shayna

I had to run.

I took a sharp turn into the alley as the guards sprinted after me. The fence before me was just a little bump to me. Jumping over it I continue to run not looking back.

Looking back is weakness.

The van was already stationed ahead and with one leap I was seated and the next second we were speeding down the road taking no break. "How did it go?" I took a skeptical look at my Superior. His brown hair was disheveled due to constant running his hand through it. The intensity of his gazed burned my shoulder and I brought myself to look at him. "I got the data in time. You did not tell me about the personal virus installed on the computer!" Azure gave me a smirk and leaned back into his chair, "I knew you could do it. Mr. Stephan wishes to meet you once we walk through the door and you better not talk to him with your smart mouth. If not..." he trailed off letting his threat hang in the air. Scuffing I slumped into the comfort of the leather chair and sighed.

Fucker.

"Miss Shayna. Please have a seat." I took a seat opposite the Boss and crossed my legs. "You wished to see me Mr. Stephan. Here I am." The old man gave me a bemused look before turning serious. "Look, you have been working here for some time now, and I believe I can trust you fully with this next mission. You have been chosen, by not just me, but also the board, to lead the next lift of something very priceless." I sat up straight my focus now solely on Mr. Stephan. "Excuse me sir, but I am not going to take place in a Lift. With all due respect I would prefer to be given another assignment than a lift." Mr. Stephan laughed and focused in on me, "You have no choice here Shayna. It's either you go through with it or lose your job as a high working assassin. The choice is yours. You will have 48 hours to think of this. You may take your leave." Getting up slowly from my seat I turned and left his office my rage burning within.

Guess who's leading a lift. ME.

On arriving home I'm welcomed by Shadow, who nonchalantly stretches before my feet for a short belly rub. He purrs in satisfaction before getting up and walking away with his tail held high. While kicking off my boots, I take my phone out of my bag and see that I've received about a thousand messages from Zena. Well what can I do? I have a best friend who loves me. "Hey Ze. I'm sorry I didn't answer earlier I was really busy. How are you doing?" She scuffs but I can hear the smile in her voice " I'm good. But next time you don't pick your call I'm gonna blow your mission and choke you to death, I promise you that. But I still love you."
