Chapter 5: What Do You Mean It’s VYBE??
The noise got louder.
Students weren’t just walking—they were running, screaming, phones in the air, bumping into anyone in the way.
“…Why are they running?” Thalina asked, brow furrowed.
Auriella frowned. “…I don’t think this is normal.”
Someone barreled past, nearly knocking Thalina over.
“Sorry!!” the person yelled—and kept sprinting.
“…Definitely not normal,” Thalina muttered.
Then a high-pitched squeal cut through the chaos.
“Oh my God!! THEY’RE HERE!!”
A girl practically bounced up to them, her deep brown eyes sparkling so much they almost glowed.
“…Hi??” Thalina asked cautiously.
The girl grabbed Auriella’s arm like she’d found treasure. “Do you even KNOW what’s happening??”
Auriella blinked. “…No.”
The girl’s face fell, horror and disbelief plastered all over her fragial features.
“…Wait.”
Thalina leaned closer. “…What?”
“…You’re new.”
“…Yes.”
The girl’s hands flew to her cheeks. “…And you don’t know??”
“…Know what?” Auriella asked, tilting her head slightly.
The girl gasped dramatically, like the very air had betrayed her.
“VYBE IS HERE!!” she squealed, jumping a little.
Thalina blinked. “…What is a VYBE?”
The girl froze, mouth open, eyes wide enough to swallow her face. “…WHAT.”
Auriella arched a brow. “…We’re not familiar.”
The girl practically fainted on the spot, then snapped upright. “You’re joking.”
“…No.”
“I’m Maya!” she declared, puffing out her chest. “And I REFUSE to believe this is real!”
Thalina whispered to Auriella, unimpressed: “…I think she’s in distress.”
“I’m NOT in distress!!” Maya shouted, then immediately grabbed both of them.
“Come with me!”
“…What?” Auriella said, amused.
“You NEED to see this.”
Before they could protest, Maya started dragging them through the chaotic crowd.
“…We can walk,” Auriella said, smirking.
“You’re walking TOO slow!!” Maya screeched.
“…We just learned how to walk,” Thalina muttered.
Maya ignored her entirely, squealing over every glimpse of students pointing and phones raised.
The crowd thickened, voices rising like a tidal wave:
“Move!! I can’t see!!”
“RIGHT THERE!!”
“I swear if I miss Blake—”
Maya’s eyes literally sparkled. “…BLAKE IS RIGHT THERE!!” She shoved forward with a grin so wide it almost hurt Auriella’s eyes.
Thalina muttered dryly: “…She’s aggressive.”
“…Very,” Auriella replied, watching Maya practically vibrate with energy.
Finally, they reached the front. And froze.
Five boys stood there.
Calm. Untouched by the chaos. Completely… otherworldly.
“…Oh.” Auriella breathed.
Thalina blinked. “…Okay.”
Even without understanding, they could feel it. These weren’t normal humans. Not in presence. Not in the way the air shifted around them.
Maya grabbed Auriella’s arm again, practically bouncing. “THAT’S VYBE! BLAKE IS RIGHT THERE! OH MY GOD!!”
“…All five of them?” Thalina asked.
“Yes! And BLAKE—he’s just… perfect!!” Maya whispered, practically drooling.
“…They look like a whole different species,” Thalina muttered.
“…They’re a group!! And I HATE ECLYPS!! RIVEN CAN’T TOUCH THEM!” Maya whispered furiously, glaring at the empty space beyond the crowd.
Zane groaned, eyes scanning the chaos. “…This is exactly what I didn’t want.”
Jace smirked faintly. “Too late now.”
Blake, ever the playboy, waved lightly at the students—instantly making the screaming even louder.
“…Why would you do that?” Adrian muttered.
Cole leaned back, exasperated. “This is inefficient.”
Kai said nothing. His gaze swept over the crowd—and for a split second, it landed on Auriella, Thalina, and Maya. A flicker of curiosity crossed his face, gone before anyone could notice.
Maya squealed again, nearly bouncing in place. “OH MY GOD HE LOOKED HERE!! KAI SAW US!!”
Auriella raise a brow. "I thought you were all about Blake."
Maya looked at her like she was a fool. " Ofcourse Blake is my bias and husband, but I still love my other five babies."
" Ok ok whatever u say."
The chaos grew, students pressing forward, phones flashing.
A teacher finally stormed in, arms waving. “Enough! BACK!”
No one listened.
Zane exhaled. “…We just got here.”
Jace grinned. “And it’s already a mess.”
Auriella’s eyes tracked the boys. “…They caused this?”
Maya spun toward her, eyes gleaming. “Of course!! They’re VYBE!! The BEST!! And if ECLYPS shows up—I WILL scream!!”
Thalina crossed her arms. “…That explains nothing.”
Auriella’s gaze shifted back to the boys. To Kai.
He’d already looked away, like it didn’t matter—but something about that moment felt… strange.
“…This place is confusing,” Thalina muttered.
“…Very,” Auriella agreed.
Maya grabbed both of them again, practically bouncing. “You’re staying with me. I have SO MUCH to explain. And yes—Blake is perfect. Don’t even argue.”
“…I’m slightly concerned,” Thalina muttered.
“You should be,” Auriella said, with a faint, knowing smile. "Humans are quite interesting."
