Prologue

Upon an evening after a long and tiring day, the commoners were preparing to rest when they heard a familiar knock—a faint and gentle one they always recognized.

“It’s him!” the man said in a calm yet excited tone.

He quickly opened the door, only to find no one there—just a small sack of gold coins. As he looked around at his neighbors, he realized they had received the same thing. He happily whispered, “Thank you,” before locking the door again.

It had been almost three years since that mysterious person started giving them a small sack of gold coins every month. At first, they thought it was a thief trying to frame them, making it seem like they were the ones who had stolen it. However, it had become incredibly helpful to them, as their work as commoners mainly revolved around planting in the fields and waiting for the harvest.

Meanwhile, in a dark alley, two people were talking to each other when a man wearing a cloak appeared.

“Master, we’re done distributing it,” said the man with pointed ears—an elf.

“I appreciate your help, Kane,” the cloaked man replied gratefully.

Kane instantly brightened at his words. “It’s my pleasure to help a hero like you, Master,” he said happily.

The cloaked man patted his head. “I’m not a hero nor a villain.”

A glowing screen suddenly appeared in the air.

The man smiled, satisfied.

Without hesitation, he pressed “Yes.”

“It will benefit me anyway,” he thought with a

grin.

A flashback from his last life

In a VIP room of a hospital, there was a skinny man lying down as if he were tired of everything—lifeless.

He did everything he could to get rich, but he forgot to enjoy his life and buried himself in work. One day, he finally became the top CEO. He was overwhelmed, yet he didn’t realize that he had stepped on many people to reach the top. There was no one loyal left beside him anymore.

His mother had died, and he didn’t even go to her because he prioritized his work. Later, he found out that his one and only family was gone, and he wasn’t there during the last moments of her life.

He became depressed—unable to sleep, drinking alcohol, and hurting himself with a blade.

One day, he thought of creating a system that can help him with everything. It was possible for him because he had money, so he buried himself in developing it. He failed many times, until one day he said, “This is it!”

A blue glowing screen appeared before him. He knew he had successfully created the first system in the world.

[Error. System error.]

The screen displayed the message, and he panicked. “What’s happening?!” he said. The system began turning red from blue, and suddenly, he felt electricity surge through his body for no reason, leaving him paralyzed.

Now, he was here in the hospital, lying lifelessly, regretting everything he had done.

He closed his eyes, accepting his fate.

"I.... won... but lost everything... " he said with full of regrets.

He died.

“Haaa?!” The man gasped for air as if he hadn’t breathed in months.

“Didn’t I die?!” he said out loud.
