Morning came slowly.
The sky was darker now—thick clouds blocking the sun.
Emmanuel stepped outside cautiously.
The city was quieter.

He turned.
A woman stood about twenty meters away, holding a backpack and what looked like a wooden spear.

“Don’t come closer,” she warned.
“I’m not,” Emmanuel replied quickly. “I just… I thought I was alone.”
She studied him carefully.
“You’re not dead. That’s already rare.”
“Same to you.”
Silence.
Then she stepped closer—slowly.
“My name is Zara.”
“Emmanuel.”
She nodded.
“You seen others?”
He shook his head.
“Just… bodies.”
She looked away.
“Yeah. Same.”
A pause.
Then she said something that made his stomach drop:
“This wasn’t just here. It’s everywhere.”
