Her Death, My Beginning

Crystal jolted awake, her breath uneven as her eyes darted around the room. Nothing looked familiar.

The soft curtains, the elegant furniture, the faint scent of perfume lingering in the air… none of it belonged to her.

Slowly, she pushed herself up and walked toward the mirror near the dressing table.

Her reflection stared back.

Crystal White — “…Where am I? What place is this? How did I even get here…?”

Her voice trembled.

“Aah—! Don’t tell me… I transmigrated?”

She froze.

“N-no way… I must be imagining things.”

She pinched her arm.

A sharp sting.

Her eyes widened.

“I-it’s real…?!”

Her gaze locked onto the girl in the mirror.

“Who is she…?”

A pause.

Then suddenly—

“Wait… I know her…!”

Her expression shifted from confusion… to horror.

“She’s… a novel character.”

Her lips parted.

“And the worst part… she’s the villainess.”

Tears welled up instantly.

“Now I’m the villainess… What am I supposed to do…?”

Sniffling, she looked around helplessly—until her eyes landed on a folded note.

With shaky hands, she picked it up and opened it.

Note:

I am Crystal White.

You must be confused about why you are here.

You already know my story… my pain.

By the time you read this, I will no longer exist.

I was humiliated, broken… and tired of living this meaningless life.

I loved Alex with all my heart… but in the end, I was killed by Rosy Cablein.

Even my own parents refused to listen to me.

They called me a villainess… even though I never harmed anyone.

My caretakers died two years ago. I have been alone ever since.

If you can… please take my revenge.

Make Rosy suffer.

I know I am being selfish. I know I am not in the right state of mind…

But from now on… you are Crystal White.

Live this life.

Be happy.

Goodbye.

Tears slipped down her cheeks as she lowered the letter.

“…Woah.”

She let out a shaky laugh.

“What a speech…”

Then her expression hardened.

“…No offense.”

Her eyes sharpened with determination.

“I’ll do it.”

“I’ll take your revenge.”

“I’ll make everyone who hurt you… suffer.”

She wiped her tears and took a deep breath.

“Now then…”

She glanced around the luxurious room.

“Let’s check out my house.”

Her eyes sparkled.

“She had amazing taste…”

Then she froze mid-step.

“…Wait.”

“Lucas.”

“The villain.”

A mischievous grin spread across her face.

“Well… I can try to woo him.”

“After all… he looks like a Greek god.”

She covered her mouth, giggling.

“…Okay, I’m getting delusional again.”

She stretched lazily.

“Anyway… groceries first.”

She grabbed a sleek bike and headed out.

On the way, something caught her attention.

A man—around his fifties—collapsed on the roadside.

Despite his age, he looked striking… but his condition was critical.

“Hey! Sir!”

Without hesitation, she rushed to him and immediately took him to the hospital.

Doctors hurried him into the operation theatre.

Crystal handled all the paperwork without a second thought.

Two hours passed.

Finally, he was moved to a ward.

She quietly paid the bill.

(Well… being rich does help.)

Moments later, his fingers twitched.

His eyes slowly opened.

“…Where am I?”

He blinked, confused.

“…Did I get kidnapped?”

His gaze fell on Crystal.

“…Well, if that’s the case… my kidnapper is a beautiful young lady.”

Crystal raised an eyebrow.

“I’m not a kidnapper, old man.”

He clutched his chest dramatically.

“Old man?! That hurt.”

“I’m not old, pretty girl.”

She rolled her eyes.

“Fine. Not-so-old man.”

He chuckled.

“So… you brought me here?”

“Yeah.”

“Thank you.”

He studied her curiously.

“You look like a college student. Which college?”

Crystal narrowed her eyes.

“…Why?”

“No harm, I promise.”

“How do I know that?”

He raised his hands.

“I’m unarmed.”

She sighed.

“…Glory College.”

His eyes lit up.

“Oh! My son teaches there.”

She tilted her head.

“Name?”

“David Morris.”

“Oh.”

She smirked slightly.

“He’s popular. Among girls… and boys.”

He laughed.

“Don’t tell me you’re his fan too.”

“Not really.”

She shrugged.

“He gives off big brother vibes.”

He burst out laughing.

“So… your name?”

“Crystal.”

“Just Crystal?”

“…Yeah.”

She looked away slightly.

“I don’t know my parents.”

(Wow. I’m a good liar.)

Author: And a great actor too.

He softened.

“…You can take my surname if you want.”

She blinked.

“You just give your surname to random strangers?”

He smiled warmly.

“You saved my life. That makes you special.”

She hesitated… then smiled faintly.

“…Thanks.”

“I guess I’m Crystal Morris now.”

He nodded proudly.

“Do you live alone?”

She narrowed her eyes again.

“At this rate, you sound suspicious.”

He laughed nervously.

“No bad intentions, I swear.”

“…For now, yes. I live alone.”

He smiled.

“You can call me grandfather.”

She brightened slightly.

“Okay, grandfather.”

(That was unexpectedly cute.)

His heart melted.

“…So cute.”

“Can I get your number?”

She shrugged.

“Sure.”

They exchanged numbers.

Later, Crystal bought groceries, returned home, and even cooked for him.

They ate together.

Two days passed.

After being discharged, Daniel returned home.

But Crystal…

She couldn’t ignore the unease in her heart.

“Something’s wrong…”

“The real Crystal’s death… it doesn’t feel right.”

Determined, she began searching for clues.
