Assassin's Target
"Sorry but I need to do this!" she thinks to herself as she tries to muffle the sounds coming out of her target's mouth.
Sadness is evident in his beautifully expressive eyes.
"Beautiful? What the f*ck are you thinking D?" she admonishes herself.
She tries to look away but it's as if his eyes are willing her to look at him.
"Sadness? Shouldn't it be fear that she should see?" she asks herself now confused.
"And why the heck is he not even struggling to escape from me?"

"Here's your twenty fourth target, D!"
Her superior A hands her a brown envelope.
She wordlessly took it and looks at the content.
A observes her reaction.
But since they've been trained to mask their emotions, she gives nothing away.
Satisfied, A continues her instructions.
D just listens looking bored.
She's really looking forward to doing her missions.
She wonders what the guy in the picture did to merit a kill.
He doesn't look like a typical scum of the earth.
"Oh well, looks can be very deceiving!" she thinks to herself.
She's a living testament to that.
She's a famous Victoria's Secret angel by day and a ruthless assassin by night.
Getting rid of the scums of the earth is something that she relishes doing.
"And as always, should you fail to kill your target, you will be the one terminated!" A reiterates her last words.
D nods her head in ascent.
Confident that it wouldn't happen.
"You may go!" A said in closing.
D stands up getting ready to leave.
A knock on the door makes them both turn to look at it.
"Finished?"
They both nod.
"Let's go! The girls are waiting!"
They look at each other and smile.
Hopefully, more girls get adopted today.
They are silent as they walk towards the garden.
They can see the girls wearing their Sunday best with beautiful smiles on their faces.
D thinks that they're lucky that they weren't chosen to be like her.
She's one of the chosen ones.
Just like her superior A.
Trained as a child to be an assassin.
As soon as they are out in the hallway, a little girl hurriedly runs towards D.
"Hey Leila! Careful! You might trip!"
But the girl just smiles at her and launches herself towards D.
She excitedly shows D her doll.
"I got one ate Maymay!" Leila proudly shows off her rag doll.
D knows what the doll means.
D smiles at her.
"Are you happy?" she asks Leila.
The little girl enthusiastically nods.
"Well I'm happy for you too little one!"
"But I will miss you and the others too!" Leila says on the verge of tears.
D holds Leila's hands and looks her in the eyes.
"And we will miss you too Lei! But you know that this is for your own good, right? Besides, you can always visit us when your parents allow it!" she assures the girl.
"Right, Mr. and Mrs. Velasquez?" D prods the husband and wife who followed Leila.
Both of them nod in assurance.
The "house" has carefully screened the couples who wanted to adopt from them.
"See? Your mom and dad will let you visit us!" she cheerfully told Leila.
"Can I hug you ate Maymay before I go?" Leila asks in a small voice.
"Of course sweetie!" as she opens her arms wide to the little girl.
Leila hugs her to the extent of her short arms.
"I promise I won't forget you ate Maymay!" Leila whispers to her.
But D knows it's not true.
Every girl that hasn't been "chosen" is made to forget once they are put up for adoption.
Everything that connects Leila to the "house" will be erased from her memory.
Wiped clean.
And all she will remember is her adoptive parents and her life with them.
