The cry in the rain

The rain poured heavily that night....

The streets were empty.silent.

A lone figure walked under a black umbrella

Nick

His hoodie covered most of his face as he walked past flickering street lights

Whimper...

He stopped

"did I just hear something?"

The sound came again...weak... painful

Slowly,nick walked towards a trash bin

His heart felt uneasy.

"Hey...is someone there?"

He peeked behind it-

And froze

A dog lying down on the ground.... motionless

it's body covered with brutal rod marks "....what the..."

Nick clenched his fist

"how cruel can people be.."

He stood there for a moment...then quietly walked away

The rain washed everything...but not the feeling in his chest.

When nick reached home ,the warmth felt strange after what he saw.

"you're late,"his mother said from the kitchen

"dinner's ready"

He sat down silently.

"How was college today?"she asked

"normal..."

But his mind wasn't there.

After dinner,he looked around.

"where's lia?"

"in her room" his mother replied.

"she's love on her channel"

Just then-

THUD!

A loud sound echoes from the upstairs

Nick's eyes widened.

"Lia?!"

He rushed upstairs and pushed the door open-

"LIA-!"

He stopped

his sister lay down on the floor... completely still.

Wearing a... Dog costume

"....what are you doing?!"

Lia suddenly got up,annoyed.

"Nick don't disturb!"

"l'm LIVE!'

He blinked in confusion

"live ? acting dead?"

She crossed her arms .

"This is my new case".

"case?"

Lia turned serious.

"in our town....dogs are turning wild."

"They're attacking their own owners."

Nick's expression changed.

The dead dog from earlier flashed in his mind.

"l'm explaining everything to my viewers"

She continued

"so please... leave ".

Then she smirked

"Don't worry,link".

Nick frowned

"it's nick"

"yeah,yeah.whatever.close the door."

He stepped out, shutting it quietly.

Silence filled the hallway.

"....wild dogs..."

His eyes darkened slightly.

Memories of his secret training surfaced.

His real life.

Weekly assignments.

Hidden missions.

"This isn't normal..."

He pulled out his phone.

Sir mark... I found something.

That night as he lay in bed-

His phone buzzed

A message from the group

Sir mark:

"Emergency meeting tomorrow"

Nick stared at the screen.

"...so it begins."

Far away ,on an isolated island near USA, morning arrived quietly.

"Breakfast is ready,"Elsie called gently.

Her brother arron sat across from her.

"what next,Elsie?"he asked calmly.

She paused.

"what do you mean?"

"your college, you wanted to change it,right?'

Her hands trembled slightly.

"...How do you know?"

She had never told him about the bullies.

Arron smiles faintly.

"you don't have to worry anymore ".

"They won't bother you again".

Elsie looked confused.

"what did you do?"

Arron stayed silent.

Some where far away,screams had once echoed...and then disappeared.

Elsie looked down, unaware.

Arron's eyes turned cold.

"Anyone who hurts you..."

"doesn't deserve to live".

Back in the city,a dog howled in the darkness

Its eyes glowed strangely.

Watching.

Waiting.

Something had begun.
