Chapter 4 – Robin’s unease

Robin sucked in the misery, reminding himself that he never wanted Sabrina. He had Zayla. Perhaps he was just in shock because of how he saw Sabrina as a decent woman but did it mean that Sabrina was cheating on him all this while? He was about to go and confront her when the man pulled away and kissed her on the forehead before leading her to his Roll-Royce.

His hands wrapped around her waist, while he opened the door to the passenger side for her, and buckled her with a seat belt before walking around to sit at the driver's side.

Robin could not take it anymore. He was not the romantic type and this romantic guy was making him distraught. Robin was sure that the guy had even seen him and Sabrina knew he was still there and yet, she did not for once stop the guy. He raged and began to walk towards the car, at the same time his phone began to ring.

He stopped, contemplating on whether or not to answer the call but seeing Sabrina riding in a foreign car with an unknown man, he ignored the call, completed his journey and walked to the passenger side. His middle finger curled and he knocked on the car window.

Thinking that he must have forgotten something, Sabrina wined down. "Step out of the car," Robin said calmly, his expression blank.

"Why?" Sabrina asked, confused. Was something wrong with the car? She stepped out and so did the man at the driver seat, as he walked and stood protectively beside her.

"Who is he and what are you doing with him?" Robin snarled, his gaze turning into a darker shade. Sabrina let out a humorless chuckle. She thought it was something important. Her eyes narrowed and she shrugged carelessly,

"Did you forget that we just got divorced? I don't answer to you anymore."

She went back to sit in the car when Robin grabbed her by the arm, his eyes throwing daggers. Before he spoke, another hand grabbed his and he turned to look at the man who was equally raged.

"Leave my girl alone," the man tousled in a warning tone. His height was just the same as that of Robin and they were both dressed in black suits, looking elegant and sophisticated. Robin pushed the phone into his suit pocket and glared at him, asking,

"Your girl? Since when?"

"Why should I tell you? She isn't your wife anymore," the man glared back and spoke in a cold tone. Sabrina was trying to free her hand from Robin's tight grip and when the man saw her discomfort, he tried to pull Robin's hand away. "Leave her alone," he said coldly, in a warning tone.

"Or what?" Robin asked, his grip further tightening around Sabrina. The next moment, a hard punch landed on his face, forcing his grip around Sabrina to loosen. Sabrina saw the redness from here he held before, and frowned whiles she rubbed the area to ease the pain.

A hand flew above her head, landing in the face of the man beside her. Sabrina was exasperated, seeing the man beside her was about to release another punch and they were already attracting so much attention from onlookers. Quickly, between the two men causing a restriction to any physical movement.

However, she could hear their rageful pants which felt as if they were ready to kill each other. "He doesn't deserve it, let's go," she said to the man beside her and sat back in her seat. The man did same and Robin watched, raged. He lowered his head and issued a warning,

"If I find out that you cheated during our three years of marriage, hell would break loose."

Sabrina's anger was over the top, as she laughed her heart out but her eyes were moist with pain which she tried to hide. "Seems to me that you just swallowed a bitter pill, Robin, live with it," she said coldly, at the same time the car drove away.

Robin's gaze darkened and expression was cold. His cheek where the punch landed unexpectedly was still burning with pain. The phone is his suit pocket finally got his attention again from the continuous ringing which he had ignored before.

Seeing it was Zayla, his anger submerged and he answered it. The black Rolls Royce passed in front of him and he saw Sabrina smiling in a way he had never seen before, instantly feeling strange. 'I should have just killed the bastard,' he said in his mind, just as a soft voice spoke,

"Sweetheart, when will you be home? I'm lonely."

Robin had not spoken since he answered the call so the female voice startled him a little, especially by the way she addressed him. Those pet names were so foreign and he preferred going by first names. Whereas, this was Zayla, the woman who saved his life and this was also the first time he heard that someone missed him.

"Zayla, I left you barely two hours ago," he said softly.

"Can't I stay in your office? I won't cause trouble. You know I don't have friends," she pleaded. She knew about Robin and women so if she stayed close to him, she would be able to send them away. She was not going to be like Sabrina who would turn a blind eye to any and everything because she wanted to be a good wife.

Robin saw nothing wrong with Zayla wanting to be closer to him. She could be in the visitors' room whiles he worked. "Alright, I will send a driver to get you."

Zayla did not like that arrangement. Successfully getting Sabrina out of Robin's life did not mean that she was safe. He still had not married her and she did not have the villa she much wanted. She would only be able to bug Robin for it if they spent more time together.

"Please can't you do it yourself?"

Robin was already exhausted by what transpired earlier between him, Sabrina and whoever that man was and could do with a breather but here was just so much for him to do at the office for which reason he did not have over an hour to make the trip back to the penthouse. He said in the same soft tone,

"There is a lot of pending work and I already lost over an hour because of the annulment."

"So, you are divorced now?" Zayla was suddenly excited. Sabrina was already out of the picture so she only had to focus on getting the title of Mrs. Jewel and the villa.

"Yes," Robin affirmed.

"We should celebrate. How about we go somewhere later after work?" Zayla asked. Robin did not feel good about celebrating his divorce. It was not as if he wanted it. He just wanted Sabrina to know that she could not live without him but seeing her with that man, he was conflicted. Did Sabrina cheat on him? What did her last words even mean? His mood soured once more, as the image crossed his mind.

"I will be working late."

"But I want to be with you," Zayla insisted, momentously saddened. Things were going well between them before Robin's father chased her out of NY city and banned her from coming back. She only found out recently that he died, though it had happened over two years ago. Now, there was a gap between her and Robin because of Sabrina so she just could not be away from him.

"No, the driver will take you back after four hours. You are pregnant and should be at home. If you are bored, then you could try checking the things we need in the penthouse, Robin suggested.

Since he mentioned the pregnancy, Zayla could not refuse. It would not be healthy for her to be staying up so late but his second suggestion was also not a pleasant one for her. Whereas thinking it over and realizing that Robin was entrusting her with a great responsibility, she smiled.

"Okay, I will transform it into a home you would love,"

Zayna's voice was suddenly thin but Robin did not notice it. His heart filled with gladness, merely hearing that the right woman for him was willing to change their penthouse into a home, he smiled before he hung up. Those were the few good things about Sabrina. In addition to her exceptional cooking skills, she knew how to make a home and Zayla was going to do same for him.
