CHAPTER 4

When Yue Fei returned home, Mother Yue was sitting in the living room watching TV. Hearing the door, she glanced at her phone, typed a quick reply, and then looked up at him with a smile.

“Xiao Fei, come sit.”

Yue Fei already knew what she wanted to ask, so he didn’t hide anything.

“Young Master Gu seems to have a good impression of me. He said we can meet again.”

It wasn’t exactly a lie. Once he signed the contract with Gu Wei’s secretary, the marriage would essentially be settled.

Mother Yue’s eyes widened. “Really? It went well?”

Father Yue, who had just come downstairs, immediately reacted. “It’s settled already? You’re getting married?”

Yue Fei raised his hands helplessly. “Not yet. We just need to spend more time together.”

Father Yue was clearly delighted. “I knew it. Our Xiao Fei looks so spirited—of course the Gu family would like you at first sight.”

Yue Fei: “…”

That confidence felt a bit excessive.

“I’m a little tired. I’ll go rest,” he said, pointing upstairs.

“Go, go,” Father Yue urged. “Rest well these days. You need to stay in good condition.”

Apparently, in order to secure this “relationship,” Yue Fei might even need to take a week off school.

Yue Fei didn’t mind.

Studying could wait.

Resting could not.

The next morning, his phone vibrated loudly while he was still half-asleep.

He ignored it.

But the caller was persistent. The phone eventually slipped off the nightstand and hit the floor.

A hand lazily reached out from under the blanket and picked it up.

“…Hello?” Yue Fei answered, eyes still closed.

“Hello, is this Mr. Yue Fei? I’m Mr. Gu’s secretary. Regarding your marriage contract—would you like to meet in person, or should I send it by email first?”

“…Okay.”

Yue Fei hung up immediately.

On the other end, the secretary stared at the phone in confusion.

Soon, the phone rang again.

“Hello…” Yue Fei frowned.

“I’ve sent the contract to your email. Please contact me if you have any questions.”

“…Mm.”

He hung up again—

and fell straight back asleep.

Meanwhile, the secretary stood beside Gu Wei, who had witnessed the entire exchange.

“Mr. Yue seems to be asleep,” the secretary said cautiously. “I’ll contact him later.”

Gu Wei paused.

“I’ll go to his house if necessary,” the secretary added quickly.

“No need,” Gu Wei said calmly. “Wait for him to call back.”

“…Understood.”

Back at the Yue residence, Yue Fei finally woke up properly.

As he got out of bed, a vague memory surfaced.

…Did he forget something?

He grabbed his phone, checked the call log, and rubbed his messy hair before calling back.

The other side picked up quickly.

“Mr. Yue?”

“Uh… hello, is this Secretary Tang?”

“Yes, Tang Yue.”

“Sorry about earlier. I don’t function well in the morning,” Yue Fei said honestly.

“That’s fine. Do you have any questions about the contract?”

“I’d rather discuss it in person.”

“Of course. I can come to you, or you can choose a time and place.”

“I’ll come to you,” Yue Fei replied. “I’m… quite free.”

Tang Yue paused slightly. “…Alright.”

They agreed to meet that afternoon.

After a quick shower, Yue Fei went downstairs.

Mother Yue was in the garden watering flowers.

“Morning,” he greeted.

“Eat something first,” she said, returning inside and asking the housekeeper to bring him porridge.

After finishing, Yue Fei stood up. “I’m going out. I won’t be back for lunch.”

“Meeting someone from the Gu family?” she asked eagerly.

“…Something like that.”

“Then change your clothes first,” she said immediately.

Yue Fei glanced at the time. “I’ll be late.”

Ignoring her slightly disappointed look, he left as he was—

in slippers.

The result was predictable.

At the entrance of Fengmao Building, he was stopped.

“Your attire is inappropriate. Entry is not allowed,” the security guard said bluntly.

Yue Fei looked down at himself.

“…What if I go inside to buy proper clothes?”

“You can’t enter.”

“…”

Fair enough.

Glancing around, he realized everyone else was dressed formally—suits, polished shoes, neat appearances.

Compared to them, he looked completely out of place.

Sighing, Yue Fei turned around, planning to call Tang Yue and change the location.

But before he could leave—

a group of people walked out of the building with imposing presence.

At the front was someone familiar.

Gu Wei.

“Third Young Master Gu!” Yue Fei raised his hand and greeted him casually, completely ignoring the surrounding atmosphere.

Gu Wei, who had been walking with an indifferent expression, suddenly stopped.

The group behind him followed his gaze.

It landed directly on Yue Fei.

“Go ahead,” Gu Wei said lightly.

The others immediately moved on.

Only one young man holding a tablet remained, looking slightly anxious.

Gu Wei then stepped toward Yue Fei.
