Chapter 5 : "A Piece of Me Still Stucked into You"
"I found you,", her lips moved slightly into a light smile & the words escaped simultaneously without her realization. Her eyes got the shine of her sun, back. They were shining alongwith the colourless pearl; pearl of eternal happiness, slight sign of remorse & immortal love, love for him. Her heart got its peace & got its rhythmic beats.
He was no one else but her, "Rondu Shakal," Her lips curved into a wide grin, the moment she noticed his reaction on hearing these words from her. His gaze was also fixed on hers; he doesn't blink for a moment, also. His sleepy eyes were looking into her doe eyes like those were his home & finally he found them back.
"Excuse me!", He said while lifting his hand to take the book from the shelf, without taking off his gaze from her. But soon he turned his boots to go, the moment he successfully took it.
She was still standing there, lost in him, seeing him going far from her, seeing his figure vanishing from her sight, like always. Suddenly she heard the sound of ringing bell & she ran towards the counter as it was the sign, that her order is ready.
She took immediately while thanking Mr. Pinto, but she was not in her right state her eyes were trying to find him, restlessly. She heard Jiya calling her, but she ignored her & went back to the reading session, while holding the cups of coffee in her both hands.
She started drooling her gaze almost everywhere, at every corner of that cafe. Her eyes got moist at the mere thought of losing him. Her footsteps started trembling as her vision started getting blurry. But she gulped to clear the limp stucked into her throat, her throat started drying up with every passing second.
Her heartbeat started scattering with the echo of her own footsteps. Her eyes started flowing like the waterfall & Her hope started fading somewhere.
But she flinched, when someone tapped her shoulder. She turned back to look at Jiya who was looking at her eyes: moist lashes alongwith tears filled, drops of rain started sliding down her cheeks, her nose turned into light red colour.
"Why are you crying? Who did & what did?", Jiya asked with confusion, her eyes were still scanning her from up to down. She touched her cheeks with her fingers & gently brushed her tears off.
Soon Mehula broke down into shedding the remorse bearing clouds & drifted into Jiya' embrace while sobbing. "Mehu, what happened? Tell me, naah! Why are you crying? You were normal before than what happened suddenly?", Jiya asked while wrapping her arms around her.
She doesn't reply anything but just continued sobbing while her face was hidden against her neck. Jiya broke the hug & took the both of her cups from her hand & took her towards the table.
🍃
Its been 30 minutes & Mehula was still sobbing without muttering any single word, while Jiya was asking her plenty of question without stopping for a moment, but soon she withdrew her name from the war as it was impossible to win.
Mehula' gaze, fixed on the door while her tears were shedding uninterruptedly. She was not caring about anything in that moment, her only concern was him & the noise around her was also fading like those people were vanishing into the thin air. Her vision was becoming blurry, but she was rubbing them to clear her vision.
"Mehula! Are you okay to tell now?" Jiya asked while sighing deeply. Mehula nodded without turning her gaze back to her. "Now tell me why you were crying?", Jiya asked sweetly trying to maintain her sweet voice cause her brain was telling her to shout or to left her there alone, but her heart was stopping her, telling her to stay calm.
Mehula shifted her gaze to look at her & then she cleared her throat to speak, "I saw him. He was here a while ago." her voice was almost a whisper cause of staying silent for too long.
"WHAT? YOU SAW HIM?", Jiya asked loudly while getting up from her seat in shock & all of this grabbed the attention of others. All the people present in cafe locked their gaze on their table.
"ARE YOU SURE IT WAS HIM?", she added to made everyone more curious about their matter.
Mehula slowly turned around to look at the expressions of people, present there. Her red puffy eyes stopped at the back corner of that cafe when her restless gaze saw him sitting there, some other boys were sitting across him. But her all attention was on him.
White half sleeves t-shirt, yellow coloured smiley stitched at the center of that T-shirt. His black messy hairs, His tired brows, sleepy eyes : the mixture of black & dark black same as the colour of darkness.
The colour of darkness; the darkness; she is ready to turn her whole existence into ashes only to let herself mould into his darkness.
His straight, perfect, Greek God type nose; His lips : heart shaped, the combination of slight pink & salmon coloured; His face : perfect like a model with small traces of slight beard & moustaches; His black mole, above his neckband & above his right brow; His rose beige, ivory coloured skin; That permanent hint of frown on his face made her chuckle unknowingly.
He lifted his gaze a little only to ended up meeting hers. Once again, like always she felt her own breath choking her, she felt her nerves going insane, she felt her brain going numb.
"Tell me, naah! where are you looking again?", Jiya asked her again to took her back to reality. She turned towards her immediately & Jiya noticed the traces of old shine into her eyes. She can see the glitter of sparkles alongwith tears into her eyes.
"What happened now?", Jiya asked her once again with concern filled tone but this time it was with a soft one, whisper. Mehula doesn't said anything but replied with a genuine smile & nodded positively. Seeing her genuine smile she shifted back to her seat & asked for her assurance for once & in turn Mehula nodded again, slightly.
"Where?", Jiya asked her while grabbing her hand into her hand. Mehula burst into few tears but this time those were flowing cause of happiness, still the slight clues of remorse made her lump into her throat more rigid, stopping her from muttering any single thing.
"Mehula, calm down! Calm your breath, please.", Jiya said her while tightening her grip on her hand. Mehula closed her eyes tightly only to make her vision clear. Tears flowed rapidly like those were the raindrops of cold rainy day. Her lips were trembling, she tried to erase it by biting on her lower lip. Her hands were shaking under the hold of Jiya' hand.
Again she was in that old trembling situation, she hates herself for this. She hates when she loses her control from herself, but she can't help as she is helpless infront of her self created condition. Mentaly & physically infirm, she is living her life from past 6 years, struggling with her own thoughts, with her beliefs. Somewhere he is also the reason behind her suffering, but she ended up mistaking herself, she ended up cursing herself for the sins that she did accidentally.
Mehula wiped her tears off & looked into Jiya' eyes. Trying hard to gulp the lump. "He.... He i... is there", she spoke with difficulty, cracking, trembling voice. Jiya raised her left brow while rubbing her hand softly. "The guy in white t-shirt with the old covered book in his hand", she said again without turning a little.
Jiya ran her gaze to look for her self made illustrated guy. She turned back her confused gaze to her, "I can't see anyone like this". "Look carefully! He is sitting at the end of corner attached to book sections' wall.", Mehula said while closing her eyes brutally. Jiya did like the same, but she turned with the same look.
This time Mehula turned flabbily. She was stopping her breath & the fear of losing him embraced her once again.
Please, don't make me fall into the darkness again.
Please, let me see him for once.
Please, don't take him away this time.
Please, let me ask for forgiveness.
Let me overcome from the burden of my sins.
She was reciting her requests to the God. She kept wishing to not make him disappear again. But her wishes, her requests got abolished from the door of him. He made her weep once again over her unintentional sins. He was not there when she looked back for him. He was gone or maybe he was never, there.
She closed her eyes tightly in grievance. Letting her suffocating screams & shout out in the form of tears from her eyes. She was about to turn but then her sight fell on the book resting on the table. It was that book.
He was not my illusion, he was here for sure but where he left? She said to herself while turning back to Jiya while putting her other hand over Jiya's hand that was already encaging hers. "I'm not lying, he was there few minutes ago. I, myself sensed him & this time, its not my illusion", she said while trying to convince Jiya, but Jiya was looking at her blankly.
"Did you talk to him? Asked him anything? His name? Anything, Mehula?", Jiya asked her while releasing a sigh. Mehula remained silent for a while, while lowering her head, her gaze was fixed on the surface of table.
She doesn't has any answer but then she raised her head & said "We can ask those boys about him", Mehula asked while that old shine came back into her eyes, making her dusty black eyes shining brightly beneath the warm ray coming throught the side window.
"Which one?", Jiya asked while running her gaze to them again only to let her spark stay for a long time as she saw it after so many years. Mehula turned her head to them & pointed at the corner seat with her eyes. "You want me to talk to them?", Jiya asked while raising her brow.
Mehula nodded weakly & her eyes were reflected the spark of hope. Jiya took off her hands & went to their direction.
Mehula was staring at them from her seat while her gazing was not asiding from them. Her vision was getting blurry cause of the water into her eyes but she rubbed them off harshly without any care.
🍃
"Sorry but they denied from whatever you said", Jiya replied with a sad face after hearing the ton of her questions. Mehula released a heavy, burden full sigh. "Maybe it was the part of my self created illusion", Mehula said while lowering her gaze back to her fingers which were still shaking but she made a fist only to resist the affect of her unreasonable curse.
"Stop your thoughts from ruining you, Mehula or you are going to end up, holding his pieces forever.", Jiya said while tensing her brows. Mehula remained silent while her gaze was resting outside the window. She was seeing the dancing particles of dust alongwith the sun ray. Amber coloured ray was conforting her with its warmness.
Blurry, noisy, crowded road view was trying to distract her from the griefily dance of two different matters but failed. The systemic rhythm of their steps was telling her to sing.
An unpleasant urge was forcing her to sing mournfully. But a mere flashback of his face infront of her eyes made her hum devoutly.
But her mind got numb the moment she saw his glimpse passing infront of her eyes. She forget to blink or to think. Her whole body got froze. The moment she realized what she just saw passing, made her stood immediately. She was about to turn to run out when she got stopped by seeing Sara, Amira & Siya back.
Her inner self was telling her to run, but on the other hand it was telling her to stop cause she can't make other's worry. She doesn't know which one her heart was saying & which one her mind wants. She always fails to differentiate but the heart's will & mind's will. It makes her confuse all the time.
"Where are you going?", Amira asked her while coming her near. Mehula doesn't hear her but she sat back without wasting any second. Amira looked at her for a while but then she came near the table & putted the shopping bags on the table & the rest of two also settled down on other seats.
"So what you brought? For me?", Jiya asked only to escape from the stabs of questions. "You promised not to judge it", Siya said to make her remember her words. "Yeah, Yeah!", Jiya replied while rolling her eyes. "We didn't get best but the better ones", Sara said while taking the cup resting on the table.
"Its fine. Its not like I have to make any boy fall for me.", Jiya said while grabbing her cup, but soon she putted it down when she gulped it as it was cold now.
"Are we going back to change our clothes?", Siya asked while streching her arms. "Then are you going to change here?", Jiya asked mockingly.
"But warden will never allow us to go in these clothes.", Sara said while turning her gaze to Mehula, but Mehula was again looking outside the window but this time her eyes were filled with restlessness.
"We have to think hurrily. Its already 4 pm, we only have 1 hour to get ready & all.", Amira said with tensed tone. "Mehula, why are not you saying anything?", she asked when she noticed her undigestable silence, but in turn she doesn't get any answer. She turned back to Jiya in hope of getting reply. Jiya simply shrugged her shoulder & signaled her with her eyes to not bother about her.
"We can go to Mrs. Pintos' home, right?", Jiya asked in the hope of distracting them from Mehula. "Thats a good idea", Siya said with excitement while drooling her gaze for a while. Soon, they left to Mrs. Pinto' home while pulling Mehula with them, but Mehula was engrossed into him, into his thoughts. She was still confused between the reality & delusion. But the scent she sensed & the closeness she felt was real. A piece of her mind is still stucked into him & she is failing to get it back.
