Chapter 4

Half a year had passed and Miroslav had finally awaken. Kazimir was still gone without a word to anyone. "Mr. Shinazugawa," the maid said knocking on the bedroom door. "You can come in," Miroslav said. The maid entered the room to see Miroslav sitting on the window seal. "Mr. Volkou called saying he'd be back for dinner tonight," the maid. "Ok," Miroslav said as he starred out the window. "Is everything alright, Mr. Shinazugawa," the maid asked. "Yes," Miroslav replied. The maid hesitated before leaving. A few hours later Kazimir returned home but only the maid greeted him. "Where's Miroslav," Kazimir asked removing his shoes. "He's in the bedroom, sir. But um about Mr. Shinazugawa," the maid said. "Is he still not eating well," Kazimir asked. "He seems to be depressed, sir. He's been stuck here for so long. You should take him out every so often," the maid said. "I'll go speak with him," Kazimir said as walked past the maid. When Kazimir entered the room Miroslav was still sitting on the windowsill. Kazimir walked over to Miroslav pulling him into his arms. Miroslav was surprised as he was caught off guard. "Sitting there is dangerous," Kazimir said. Miroslav grabbed onto Kazimir's shirt tightly. "What's been on your mind lately," Kazimir asked. "I need to see my daughter," Miroslav said. "I'll take you to see her when I can. Right now the police are searching for you so it's best to stay hodden for now," Kazimir said. "I need to see her. Please Kazimir. Not being with her is killing me. I need to be with my daughter. Please let me go," Miroslav begged. "I can't do that, Miroslav. You know way too much," Kazimir said. "I won't tell anyone anything. I promise so please let me see my go to my daughter. Kazimir, I begging you. Let me go. I...I'll do anything," Miroslav begged. "I can't allow that, Miroslav," Kazimir said as he turned away. "Kazimir," Miroslav said. "Enough, Miroslav. Let it go cause it's not happening," Kazimir shouted. Miroslav flinched as tears began rolling down his cheeks. He turned away and ran into the bathroom. Kazimir sighed as he left the room.

A week later Kazimir came home aggravated and cover in blood. "Mr. Volkou," the maid said. "What is it," Kazimir asked angrily. "It's about Mr. Shinazugawa," the maid said. "What about him," Kazimir asked. "He's locked himself in the bedroom and refuses to come out. I heard him crying earlier but he's been way to silent. I've tried getting the door opened but was unable to," the maid said. "I'll take care of it," Kazimir said walking past her. Kazimir went upstairs and kicked the door open. Miroslav jumped to his feet immediately as he was surprised. "The maid keeps informing me that you're not eating, not getting up when you're supposed to and now you're locking yourself in the bedroom. Am I not doing something right here. You have everything you need here. What more do you need, Miroslav," Kazimir asked angrily. "I need my daughter. I need to be with her. Just let me go, Kazimir. I promise I won't tell anyone about you or your men. Just let me go please. I'll do anything you want me to," Miroslav begged. "You're still going on about this. I've told you that it wasn't happening. Why won't you get that," Kazimir asked angrily. "Let me go to my daughter," Miroslav said. "Not happening," Kazimir shouted. "Kazimir, please," Miroslav begged. Kazimir grabbed Miroslav tightly by the throat causing him to wince. He throw Miroslav to the bed before ripping his clothes off. "Please, don't," Miroslav begged trembling. "You said you'd do anything. Well this is what I want," Kazimir said as he removed his shirt. Miroslav tried to get Kazimir to stop as he didn't want to do it. However, Kazimir refused to stop and would hit Miroslav anytime he tried to push away. Eventually, Miroslav gave up and just cried silently. By the time Kazimir finished, Miroslav had passed out. He was covered in bruises and was bleeding badly. Kazimir got up throwing a blanket on him before leaving.

The next morning, Miroslav woke up alone and in pain. He forced himself out of bed and into the bathroom. Miroslav took a shower before slowly making his way downstairs. The moment the maid saw Miroslav she became worried. "Mr. Volkou said you may leave, but he wants you to know that he will come find you when he returns," the maid said. "C...Can I really leave," Miroslav asked. "Yes, I've been informed that I am to drop you off near the hospital," the maid said. "When," Miroslav asked. "Please eat first," the maid replied set a bowl of porridge down. Miroslav ate what he could before getting up. Once the maid was ready they left, heading for the hospital. Once they were close enough the maid stopped allowing Miroslav to get out. As soon as the maid drove off Miroslav headed straight for Alexei's house as it was closer. The moment he knocked on the door, Ekaterina answered it. "Daddy," Ekaterina shouted hugging him tightly. Miroslav hugged her back tightly as they both cried. Alexei quickly ran over to them both before pulling them inside. He shut the door behind them before locking it. "Miroslav," Alexei said worriedly. Ekaterina broke the hug before backing away. "Daddy, you look different," Ekaterina said. "What happened to you, Miroslav," Alexei asked. "I'll tell you later," Miroslav said before lifting his daughter up. "Have you eaten anything," Alexei asked. "I had some porridge before I came here," Miroslav said as he carried his daughter to the living room. Alexei worriedly watched his friend as he went into thebother room to play with Ekaterina. Miroslav appeared to exhausted and pale. He was wearing pants and sweater despite it being summer. An hour later, while Alexei was making lunch, Ekaterina ran into the kitchen crying. "Ekaterina, what's wrong," Alexei asked. "Dad...hic...dy is...huff...nt waking," Ekaterina cried. "What do you mean," Alexei asked. "Alexei," a women shouted from the living room. Alexei ran into the room to see Vera knelt down next Miroslav. "Miroslav, hey, wake up," Alexei said. "What happened to him? Where did he even come from," Vera asked. "He showed up this morning. I'm calling an ambulance," Alexei said as he pulled out his phone. "I'll try to wake him up," Vera said.

"Alexei," Violetta said rushing over. "You made it," Alexei said. "What's wrong with my brother, Alexei," Violetta asked. "I don't know. He showed up at my house looking pale and exhausted. He didn't tell me anything and went straight to playing with Ekaterina," Alexei replied. "Mr. Belsky," a doctor said suddenly. "How is he," Alexei asked. "Mr. Shinazugawa is currently unconscious. He's malnutrition and dehydrated. His body is covered in bruises and he has a fractured ankle. Mr. Shinazugawa also appears to have been violently raped," the doctor replied. "Oh god," Violetta said as she tried not to cry. "Please, do what you can to help him," Alexei said. "I will do everything I can. However, I'm afraid I'll have to inform the police," the doctor said. "I'm a detective. Miroslav dissappeared months ago and suddenly appeared today. I was in charge of his case. If you find anything else please inform me so I can add it to the files," Alexei said. "Will do, detective," the doctor said then left. "Alexei," Violetta said. "Don't worry, Violetta, I'll find who did this," Alexei said hugging her. As time passed, Miroslav showed no signs of waking up. Violetta would visit him everyday with Ekaterina. "Daddy," Ekaterina said gently grabbing Miroslav's hand. "He's just resting, Ekaterina. He'll wake up soon," Violetta said. "Why can't he wake up now," Ekaterina asked. "Because he's very exhausted," Violetta replied. "So daddy's very tired," Ekaterina said. "Yes," Violetta said. "Can I stay with daddy," Ekaterina asked. "I'm sorry sweetie but I have to take you to Vera since I got to work," Violetta said. "But I wanna stay here," Ekaterina said tears falling. They stayed a bit longer before leaving.
