Chapter 3: The Night Felt Different

I didn’t expect the day to continue.

Usually, meetings like this end with a simple goodbye.

A polite smile. A “we’ll talk.”

And then… nothing.

But with Kabir—

it didn’t feel finished.

“Walk?” he asked, standing up.

I hesitated for a second.

Then nodded.

The beach felt different at night.

Quieter. Slower.

Like the world had taken a pause.

Only the waves were moving.

And maybe… my thoughts.

We walked side by side.

Not too close.

Not too far.

Just enough to feel his presence.

“You’re quiet,” he said after a while.

“I’m thinking.”

“About?”

“You.”

He looked at me, surprised.

“Already?” he teased.

I rolled my eyes. “Don’t make it weird.”

“Too late,” he smiled.

We both laughed.

And just like that… the silence felt lighter.

We sat near the shore.

The sand was cold, but it felt nice.

Grounding.

“Do you believe in things happening for a reason?” I asked.

“Depends,” he said.

“On what?”

“On whether they stay.”

I frowned. “That’s not an answer.”

“It is,” he said calmly.

“Some things feel perfect… but they don’t last. So what’s the reason then?”

His words didn’t sound casual.

They sounded… experienced.

“Maybe the reason is just to feel it,” I said softly.

He looked at me.

For a moment, neither of us said anything.

“You think too much,” he said.

“And you feel too little,” I replied.

“Not true,” he smiled slightly.

“I just don’t show it.”

That scared me more.

Because people who don’t show things…

usually feel them deeper.

“Do you regret meeting me?” he asked suddenly.

I shook my head.

“No.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know,” I said honestly.

“It just… feels right.”

He didn’t reply immediately.

He just looked at the ocean.

“Right things don’t always stay,” he said quietly.

Something about that line stayed with me.

The air felt heavier now.

Not uncomfortable.

Just… real.

I realized something in that moment.

This wasn’t just a random meeting anymore.

It was becoming a memory.

And I hadn’t even left yet.

We sat there for a long time.

Talking.

Laughing.

Sometimes just… being quiet.

And for the first time in a while—

my mind wasn’t loud.

It was calm.

Because of him.

And that was the problem.

🔥Ending Hook

Maybe it wasn’t just the night that felt different…

Maybe it was him.

And maybe… I was already getting used to something I couldn’t keep.
